Well tonght on my way into work I was on I-20 going east through Grand Prarie. I was cruising, thinking about how ****** up Valentine's Day is gonna be for me, and all of a sudden I see a tire about 50 ft in front of me. It's dark as hell with no street lights, and at 70 MPH, I was gonna hit it, and did. It was still wet outside from all the damn rain, and I couldn't just swerve that quick. At that monent I remembered Ben's sad story of how he hit a re-tread and knocked off the oil-return line. I immediately pull over and hop out to check the damage. The good news is that the oil-return line, and the IC pipes are good. The bad news is that my front Street-Glow neon tube that has been defunct for about 5 months now anyway was now just 2 sharp ends with wires attached, and a lot of the plastic under-cowling is broken. I stood up, and about that time, a Semi Truck is about to barrel past my car, then all of a sudden...WHOOOSH! huge piece of tire flies right past my head! At this point I go and pop my hood, and prop it up. If anything flies this way, it will have to hit my hood 1st! As I am figuring out a way to tie up the wires so my tires don't get punctured this red explorer pulls over, and a pretty woman with features that are RIGHT(wow) hops out to lend me some assistance. I ask her is she has a flashlight, but she doesn't. So instead she turns her Explorer around so that she can shine her headlights at the front of my car, and in the process almost gets stuck in some mud. Just as I was about to go and start pushing the front of her Explorer, she breaks free. After she aims her ride, she hops out, and we are talking while I am tieing the wires with tie-tights, and I find out that she used to work for the same company I work for. She seems really cool, and the fact that she was willing to pull over, almost get stuck in the mud, and help me out says a lot. I finished up, and ask her what her name was. She tells me, and I thank her, and then we get in our respective rides and leave. She almost gets stuck in the mud again turning around. I get in and hook up my PDA Dyno to monitor my Temp Sensors for anything funny that may happen, and I get back on the road. My plans of stopping at Tower Records before work were now shot! In looking back I wonder:
- What the hell was I thinking!?? (I have come to the conclusion that I wasn't, and that Hindsight is 20/20)
- Why didn't I get her number? (She had her mobile phone out and ready)
- Why the hell am I so damn clueless till after the fact?
