Hey,
So, if I am going to run my stock head unit to a two channel amp for the front speakers, and then run a two channel amp bridged more than likely for the back speakers, do I need two David Navone LOC? I am guessing I just run the fronts speakers to the front, then the back speakers to the rear and then the sub? How exactly do I wire the sub in? Do they replace the rear speakers? I know that cant be right, so how do I do it?
Thanks,
Jeff

You can buy LOCs which will output four channels. Mine does. The output from your stock head unit (speaker level) goes to the LOC, which brings the signal down and puts it out to the amps, which then run to the speakers.

My impression about the subs is that you need to tap the rear speaker wire but you really shouldn't take this from me, I'm still installing my first amp. ;)

You can just run a 4-chan LOC. Basically, you'll tap into the lines, but you don't have to break them. Technically, dpending on what amps you get, you could even just use a 2-channel and pass the signal through one of the amps. JL Audio's amps (some of them) have a pre-amp out section on them...pretty neat, huh? Technically, I could send the signal from my sub amp, full range, right to my other amp...but I have preamp outs on my HU, so I don't have to. But this would be another option for you to look into! :)

sooo...
I just ordered the Navone N-774v. I called, and I asked the lady on the phone if she could answer a technical question for me, and she said she would try, but if she couldn't, she would get Dave for me. How is that for customer service! Well, the amp i dont think will have pre amp out, but that is a cool feature, servo. If i run the sub amp off of tapped rear speakers, should i run thicker rear speaker wire, also? I shouldnt have to, since I am pushing the current through AFTER the wire, and into the subs? oh wait, I think i might almost get it. If the LOC is wired behind the head unit, i just run the RCA to the sub amp, and then the rear speakers will still get juice? If somebody could explain in detail how to wire this, and still get the power to the rear speakers, that would be awesome. Unless it is better to just bypass the rear's for the sake of the sub. Thanks
Jeff

Basically you're wanting your rear speakers to be left out of this all together. I'm not 100% certain, but you should be able to just take the signal off of your front speaker wires into the LOC. From there, you'll divy it up and send one pair of RCA's to your front-stage amp, and another to your sub amp. THe rear speakers will then, ideally be left amped only off of the deck, and hopefully you shouldn't need to touch them or their wiring at all.

As I said, I may be wrong, I've got little LOC experience. Perhaps someone more familiar with this specific unit can clarify. If this is not the case, and you still want to keep your rear speakers, I'd only connect the LOC to the fronts, and still leave the rears un-interrupted, then look at the pass-thru option. Alot of amps DO allow for this. That said, I really don't miss my rear speakers at all. I was wondering the other day, why, again it was that I still had them connected, and promptly pulled my HU and 4 snips later, I really can't tell much of a difference.
