Are you able to accelerate and are your rpms okay as far as going past a certain point, etc? I had an issue with mine idling at around 2500 rpms, and then not being able to make it drive past that.

unless you're coasting to a stop... you really can't or don't idle when going uphill...

well i dont know much to be honest but yeah it does it when im going about 40mph but when i go uphill it really struggles even when i give gas, i changed the plugs and the oil this weekend but its not really helping

Check your fuel pump and the little filter? Can you give it gas and then it still stays at the same speed (like the fact you just hit the gas means nothing) and it acts like it's going to die?

I don't exactly think that the high idle is just from it being a Mazda and having some.. type.. of... electrical gremlin. Something isn't right, the car isn't going to do this just for the heck of it.

is your transmission standard or auto? you sure the torque converter or clutch is not slipping?

Hmm.. dunno about that then, unless it's like my truck.. the shift sensor went out and it would rev high while driving then finally shift itself. Don't know about the idle though.
