HID or LED

I was wondering if you guys ever saw LED fog lights on a mazdaspeed 3 i never have can you guys tell me which one is brighter and which one looks better

Depends on the light type you are looking for. Xenons (HID) would actually produce usable light, LEDs would not project light well, but they would be bright enough for others to see

Now if you're talking about LEDs like audi, porsche, mercedes, saab, cadillac, etc, then there is only one person I can think of on here that has done something like it, and that's username laraw. She did LEDs around the headlight housing, not fogs

When I first got my speed I was thinking about doing white or yellow LEDs in the matte plastic around the fogs, but never followed through. I don't have the tools or materials to put the lights around the curves while keeping the diodes alligned. It can be done with sheet metal like tin, but you'd have to worry about protecting them from the elements. And that's what I got stuck on, because it would have to be a custom molded piece to sheld them

I would be wary using LEDs, and not because they won't be bright enough (LEDs are plenty bright, they are starting to be used in streetlights, parking deck lights, etc), but cheap LEDs typically do not use proper heatsinks (LEDs emit heat from the back). So what happens is that the heat generated by the LED does not get dissipated by the heatsink, and that results in lower light output, as well as much lower life.

A good LED engine should have a nice, heavy heatsink attached to the LED board. And don't go by equivalent Watts replacement, the cheap stuff doesn't come close to meeting the claims (e.g. 60W is about 800 lumens of light, but some of the cheap LED lightbulbs I had once bought were only something like 400 lumen, even though they claimed to be 60W replacements....).

Go with the HID in the fogs then upgrade our blinkers to LED.

if you upgrade your blinkers you'll have to get a voltage regulator or something like that to keep it from hyper blinking

I got leds on my turn signals n brake lights n everything n then i got the hids on my headlights n fog lights and my car blinks fast. Where can i get that voltage regulator? But when i have my hazards on, they blink at reg speed.
