HID lighting, why they are illegal

JohnnieblackDX said:
Well a guy I know bought the h4 deadlamps and put them on his p5. You can them off ebay with black housing for a decent price. If you wanted to go that route.

But then I wouldn't to HIDs because I like having high-beams, they are needed a lot where I am.

hahah like a couple days after posting in this thread I got HIDs (see avatar).. oh well :)

at least I have them properly aimed.

Most of the problem with HIDs in the U.S., at least IMO, are because they don't auto level so when cresting over a hill you'll end up blinding someone.

It sounds to me like HID retrofit kits are illegal cause people are weeners... I didnt really know they were illegal, but ive been blinded by tall trucks in my rearview and I dont want lift kits to be illegal. Ive also been oncoming to cars with badass HIDs (Nissan, etc.) even high beams and u know wat u do? Dont look at the damn car directly. Stop whining, be like Ahnold! Ahnold say, "You ah a baybee, yew cry liiiike one!"

nobody here is whining except you
"look away from the lights" is a pathetic excuse emphasized only by north american driving schools... the practice is UNSAFE because in the event that there was a car with blinding lights that you passed, there could be some critter or person crossing the street from the other side of the street at the same time right after that car has passed... there could be other bad scenarios, but that's one of them

you don't own the road, so don't give us that "you're infringing on our freedoms" crap... everyone shares the road and everyone has a responsibility to keep it safe so that NO one gets killed... if you make your car unsafe (lift kits are one of them even though they're "legal"), keep that car off the streets or go build/buy your own roads to drive on

*has HIDs now :P*

as long as you keep them aimed down properly they don't cause excess glare at all. I adjusted them to DOT specs and then compared them to the other cars in my driveway at home (all with factory HIDs) and they were fine.

Making the road unsafe for others is definitely not cool. People with crazy lift kits need to use some brains and get some lower bumpers and angle the headlights down or something.

DOT aiming is only "fine" when you have nothing in the car... put a couple of guys in the back and a trunk full of beer, and you'll soon find out that you're pissing people off

if you *have* to install this illegal HID s***, aim them to ECE specs FFS

i didnt say anything about rights being infringed upon. no one enforces the law anyway. u have a point i gess wen it comes to people with bad night vision or hoo get freaked out by things like that. but, as far as someone with excellent vision day or night, bright lights or not, goes... it doesnt bother me at all. wen the sun is in my eyes and the visor wont take care of it, i dont pull over and wait and i dont think im putting anyone in any danger. i can still see everything perfect beleev it or not, with the sun kickin my ass... old ppl and women should be banned...

Forgot to add that I aimed the bright spot on the beam pattern a bit down from the DOT specs. If it's a bit lower than OEM HIDs it should be no issue. .. oh and I never have anything in the back of the car more than a mountain bike or two so I'm all set there :D Good info though.

please be considerate... not everyone has good eye vision like you.... safety laws were created with the average person (85th percentile IIRC) in mind... justifying the illegal s*** you've done to your car is just plain arrogance

i dont have HID, but ive been thinking about it. i see wat ur sayin, but still... senior citizens, c`mon. and speaking of illegal and liftkits, anyone have pic.s of a truck with a lift kit rear-ending a car? ive seen plenty of cars rear ending trucks with lift kits.

dude, old farts aren't the only ones with bad eye sight... my friend is only 24 and he can't see s*** at night
and just because there aren't any pics of jacked up trucks running over cars, doesn't mean it hasn't happened... and I won't be surprised either if they rolled over... and trucks rolling over CAN crush someone walking down the street or crush a car injurying its occupants badly

the ignorance you spout has just proven to me how arrogant you are

wowee... u r a kwik one... i wasnt sayin it doesnt happen, im sure it does. i really do wanna see it. i was seriously askin for a pic.

wait, hold on a sec. heer. I didnt say anything about only old ppl having bad eye sight in the previous post. i didnt mention eye sight at all. I was saying that old ppl in general are bad drivers. i was simply REITERATING. im a beleever in mandatory testing after a certain age is i gess wat i was implying and i would be more worried about that and drunk drivers than freakin headlights. i didnt say anything about eye sight at all. i dont even remember using old ppl and eye sight in the same sentence at all, ill look in a sec. also #2, i really do want some pic.s and i dont care if it is more prevalent for trucks to run over cars or vice versa. i dont see how u got that i dont beleev it happens out of that. ur doing a lot of assuming there. i would say ur comments make u seem pretty ignorant or egotistic or haughty or presumptuous.

yeah, i never even used old ppl and eye sight in the same sentence period. u r kwik to start the name calling and condescension.

(rofl) priceless

This message is for general public and Im not targeting anyone personally, hehe.

Wether or not you're ignorant or not, law is the law and do what you will with your car. Consequences will arise and wether or not you are aware of the consequences you WILL find out sooner or later.

As far as old people go....yea its REALLY ****** up. You drink one bottle of beer and drive...then you get pulled over and get DUI/DWI whatever. Old people on the other hand ****** amaze me. They are on more ****** drugs than ANYBODY else on this planet and YET they are STILL allowed to operate a motor vehicle. I see old people driving with ****** oxygen masks/tanks on their face. And while you're walking on the shoulder of the road, old people feel a gravity toward you and swerve towards you. (I have this s*** happen all the time). Old people JUST HAVE to realise at what point its NOT safe for them to drive.

haha, jeez. ur dissin on old ppl more than me. BUT, my grandmother drives my other Mazda and she practically parks on our grass everyday and my grandfather has caused 2 wrecks in the last 2 months. So, yeah... And i always argue that women don`t drive better than men. And all i hear is, "guys cause more accidents," there`s a point there but i still think guys are better drivers. I think its specifically TEENAGE boys with crappy cars drivin em like theyre super duper. shh, dont tell anyone wat i said about girls though...

someone delete the garbage here and close this thread for good info.
yep. Sorry to do the " (jacked) " style. Yes, please delete all of the irrelevant posts here.

Im very satisficed with the Super Vision 8000k hid kit, whit my H4 housing and very well aimed, I dnt blind anyone. The key for correct illumination and to dnt blind other cars is to aim the housing, it take a few minutes in your garage.

P.D: Someone test the Bi-Xenon kit???... i need the high beam!!!! thanx people!!!! (breakn)
