i thought he was using the stock timing and he lowered his CR to 8.5:1.Captain KRM P5 said:i did not think superprotege was using the f10, i thought it was the e6x
SHAGwagn said:I have been running 12lbs on my hiboost kit and stock internals for the past 3 years on 93 octane pump gas...no issues. Ever. My bottom end is now being built by Juan's brother Manuel at TBK down in Miami. I will be running the haltech F10 at 16-18lbs on pump gas when i get it back. Manuel is using the same set up on Superprotege's car as well and he is the only 11 sec car on this forum that I know of. Just giving my two cents. The F10 works. Good luck on your quest.
SHAGwagn said:Yes superprotege is using an F10X, i have the older DOS F10. He is also using 8.5 CR pistons, not sure if you guys got that when i said im gettin my motor built like his...sorry if i wasnt clear.
Superprotege ran 26lbs on race gas with the F10 and put down a 11.9 timeslip. If you search the threads you will find one where Juan talks about them not having to use the E6X anymore as they once did on their yellow test car becuase the F10 was doing just fine, and the proof is in the pudding...pudding being superproteges car.
How am i going to control timing at that level of boost...I have no idea. Manuel said he can do it so I said ok. i guess its all in the tune. Ill let you know i guess.
shane02pro5 said:I'm pretty sure we got Hiboosted around the same time I also have the original DOS F10. I was wanting to up my boost as much as I could with the F10 and J&S with 440s and maybe fuel pump and be daily drivable. I think I read where Juan stated the fuel pump was good up to 14psi. I would think with the cam gears he has quite a bit of timing pulled at that boost level. That would be very rough riding trying to cruise daily with my kids in the back. I can have my J&S to where it pulls so much timing per psi once I up the boost.
Your car is looking very sweet with the hood and painted wheels!!
Captain KRM P5 said:i used an f10x as well, actually the first windows based model juan sold as i recall. i agree it works, i just think long term its better for engine longevity and safety to run the E6x or another system that controls timing.
i did not think superprotege was using the f10, i thought it was the e6x
where can u buy the J&S device??... so as i to assume that the F10X is fine??shane02pro5 said:With the timing retard I was referring to the throttle being very sensitive and car being very jumpy when trying to ease on or off the pedal at cruising. J&S is a timing control device with knock sensor that retards timing when knock is heard and or set up to retard so much timing per psi. As soon as detonation starts it will save the motor. I have been paranoid since I blew my tranny a while back figuring the motor would have been first, so this was just a $500 insurance policy for the unit to save my motor. Too many horror stories!
