Nissan Titan 2005, hopefully soon 2008 GT CX9
Hi I'm Casey! I love exploring new places on the internet!! Anyways I was lurking through here while researching a 2008 GT CX9 that I'm seriously looking to purchase as soon as tomorrow. http://showlow.craigslist.org/cto/3323758503.html

It has awd, 42000 miles, Navigation, Bose sound, 6 cd/mp3 changer, 3rd row, heated seats, power seats, leather seats, moon-roof, 20" factory wheels, rain sensitive windshield, power lift gate, back-up camera, keyless entry, Weather-tech digital custom mats(plus have original), all maintenance up to date and the scheduled 40000 miles maintenance was completed.

The person is asking 23kobo it has been listed since October 7th, looking through websites and talking to people it sounds like around 21 give or take is a fair purchase price, my wife and I are on a budget (We like getting deals :-) ), she is going from part time worker to full time mom. We are super excited but a little nervous about finances. We have a two year old and are expecting! We have looked at honda pilots and toyota highlanders, those were the two we were closest too besides the CX9, but we really like the CX9, haven't driven one yet though :-)

Jessie, the person selling the car, is driving out to flag for the weekend tomorrow. I am going to talk to them on the phone tonight.

I am wondering, based on what I've read so far, everyone here seems super helpful and friendly, what does everyone think of their 2008 awd CX9's? What is the highest mileage someone on here has on their CX9? What do you guys think a fair purchase price (Or good deal) would be on this particular car? Any particular questions I should ask when I talk to them? Thanks in advance for any input!!!

Oh, I know its silly but we really like that kid viewing mirror that is right above the rearview mirror that folds down in the pilot and highlander (and doubles as a sunglass holder), is there anyone who has switched out the sunglass holder for one of those in a CX9? Do they make an aftermarket one you can switch out, or do newer CX9's come with that?

Thanks again!
-Casey

Wait--the '08 has the 6 CD changer with Nav? My '12 only has single CD with Nav--why'd they change that???

That's what it says. Lol. I haven't even seen it for real. So I can't back that up. Tex2670, how long have you had your CX9? You like it, love it, ambivalent?

That is correct. '08 NAVI and 6-CD Changer co-exist.
Not later models.
Reason? Mazda moved the NAVI unit from cargo area to the space behind LCD display.
There is simply not enough room for NAVI unit and 6-CD changer together.
Mazda figured that it should be OK for most owners since one CD can stores many MP3 songs.

Yes. It drives like a BMW-540 I used to own... only more reliable and less costly to maintain.

famsnowman, in my opinion that is not a good deal. Mine is the same vehicle + BSM, roof rails & crossbars. (not sure if your Craigslist car has Blind Spot Monitoring).
Anyhow, I bought my 08' in February of 2011, manufacture date May 2008, with 32k miles. The condition was like new. No scratch on any wheel, only one door ding on the entire car.

I paid 23k and that was almost 2 years ago.

You shouldn't pay for than 20 for that. 5 model years old, 42k. My 2 cents.
Good luck!

Bought it in March, and loved it from the initial ride home. Coming out of an '04 Pilot--the CX-9 just drives sooo much better than the Pilot in every way. Didn't like the new Pilot, and debated for a couple of weeks between the CX-9 and the Highlander. I think most would tell you, I wish the MPG was better--but I knew that before I bought. I would like additional cupholders in the rear doors, like my Pilot had, a power outlet for the rear seat, and I wish the Nav and controls were more straighforward and intuitive (like a dedicated "Audio" button to switch the nav screen, instead of the 2 step "Source" then "FM" or "Sat" etc., and the phone book for the bluetooth is just a pain--can't edit). But overall--no regrets.

tex2670, helbigtw, ceric, very good insight. Thanks for your input, its nice to hear real input from owners who aren't trying to sell it to me :-) . Helbigtw, thanks very much for the honest assessment of the price. I'm glad I didn't go for it at this point, it does sound like it does not have BSM (which I think would be nice to have). I had held off because of the thread about the reliability of the 08 CX9 as well as jd power and associates rating of the reliability . But its good to hear from you guys that you like your Cx9's. Ceric and Helbigtw both have the 2008 models as well. Whats the highest mileage you guys have seen on a CX9 here? Have you guys had to have any major/minor work or repairs done to your CX9's that you didn't expect? Well thanks again for the honest answers and help with my decision.

To be honest after reading the jd power stuff I went looking more seriously at the highlander and toyota. But my credit union will tack on a 5 year 100k warranty to any used car I buy for 1300 bucks. So that might make more apt to buying a CX9. I really like the idea of having a sporty crossover.

If you are looking at a used Highlander, note that the pre-2011 models had a 3rd row that was NOT 50/50 split--would have been pretty close to a deal breaker for me.
