Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring
Hey all, i actually got my cx-9 almost a month ago but just registered with mazda forums... i have over 4000 miles on my cx-9 right now... i got no problems, and i really enjoy driving it... The V6 engine is sure enough to carry cx-9's body and passengers, but i was wondering if someone tried to tune the engine... i wanna put an open funnel air filter if possible... My cx-9 is black, so its really hard to take care of it... I gotta wash and wax it weekly... I have also a ml55 amg which is silver... and im waxing it with nu finish but i cant wax my cx-9 with nu finish because nu finish leaves that white residue... help me out with finding a good wax for my cx-9 pls =)

I personally wont go past Maguires Canuba wax,

Easy to apply, easy to wipe off and no residue left in the cracks.
There are newer products out there, but I'll just stick to Canuba waxes(bowdown)

Oh yeh, did I mention the shine (wow)

Thanks a lot folks.... I ll go ahead and try those waxes... i couldnt find maguires canuba wax on stores though =)

My apologies, I just checked the bottle and it is actually spelt :
"Meguiars Carnauba Wax" and even though I'm in Oz, it is made in USA.

You should also be able to get "Mothers" brand.

Polymers are a lot better than waxes. Wax just builds up and beads the water, creating spots. Polymers make the water sheet off and leave must less residue. They also make the surface slicker so less grime sticks.

wow i never knew that... thnx =) So recommend me a product that i can find and buy easily...

with modern finishes you really dont need to wax at all anyway. Thats just what salesmen want you to do.

I use the Mr Clean Autodry system regularly and it does a great job. The soap dissolves everything, and as part of the self drying, it applies a coat of polymer to make the water sheet off and dry. It works amazingly well, and helps keep the car clean between washings by making the surface slicker. that also applies to the glass, and wheels, which get less dusty.

Try it.

If you want to learn more about taking care of your car's finish, check out http://autopia.org/. In my opinion, polymers do a better job of preventing water spots, but nothing makes your finish shine like carnauba wax. I've tried a number of waxes, but my favorite is Pinnacle Souveran, if you can afford it.

$85 for Pinnacle Souveran is a bit expensive. Usually I'll grab it when it's on sale for $50 or so. I think that price is a bit more reasonable, especially for those who accept nothing less that the ultimate shine, IMO.

Canauba wax does not build up, it can be applied as often as you like because the excess just wipes off. The Meguiars that I use is in liquid form and smells like bananas......hmmmmm nice!
I have gone to the dealers for a service and they ask me how do I get my car to look so shiny? They actually comment that it looks better than the ones in the showroom Ha ha...(first)
I have a car cover that I use in my garage, as my car sits through the week and I dont want the cat all over it, I have trouble putting the cover on by myself because it just keeps sliding off, it is so damn slippery.:)

Your so lucky, it costs A$28 (US$25) here for 16 oz plastic bottle.

I actually have the meguiars paste wax.. idk how much the bottle costs but it should be around 15 bucks..
