hesistation after ecu flash?

1st MP3,

The whole point is to not share the line with anything else that'll go to the wastegate actuator.

It made a huge difference on my car and on some other member's cars...

You guys are lucky, when I did my new BOV setup, I ran a new line and my car still stumbles. It feels very similar to preflash lately.

Another thread on this?

Heres the problem:

9.5 to 10:1 A/F under boost with a whopping 2-3 degrees of Timing advance. The decent mapping starts after 5000rpm, where all the torque has already been wasted.

Heres the cause:

Long term Fuel Trim is adjusted through all driving conditions unfortunately the LTFT is stored and not changed often. This is where the problem develops. Thus when you pull the negative terminal off the battery and reset the ECU, your LTFT and STFT (short Term) are reset to factory 0% and your problems are quickly fixed.

Braden, while that is true, I have reset my ECU like forty times since purchase in January. But I am getting tired of having to reset every three weeks or less.

We should not have to fix this problem ourselves every three weeks or less an then have to spend 20 minutes resetting the radio settings as well.

I don't expect anything this weekend from the dealer. They are keeping the car over the weekend. Since the TT is out, I don't know what they'll invent to blame it on.

What Braden said makes sense....but then why did 90% of the people on here (e.g. Vega and others) say the flash fixed every morsel of hesitation for them -- I mean why would it "all of a sudden" come back? That's one mystery. The other mystery is why the flash didn't seem to help the other 10% of the people here (e.g. me) that much.

Yes I agree with the user effort, it is un-necessary.. However it is the only "fix" most people will have until they want to shell the money out for an ECU or piggy back to take care of the problems.

I know that the timing maps will fix most of the boosted issues. The fuel is only a problem to a certain extent.

The stock fuel maps do NOT like my timing maps below 4000rpm (closed loop under boost). But in boost could stand to be modified.

I'll have some dyno numbers by the weekend if I'm not too busy.

Aren't you venting to the atmosphere? That could be your problem....

Yes, I am venting to the atmosphere, but the problems associated with that are only noticeable when I get on it after a quick shift. What I have noticed in my car both pre-flash and post-flash, is a pulsing in the power delivery when I maintain a consistant throttle position. I agree with turboge about the cause of this problem, and I don't think that mazda will ever fix it. Fuel/timing management is the route that I will soon be taking to fix these issues.

What's up Chris?? How you've been?

On the same note though...My car was running like never before on my way home about an hour ago...again... If I made a post for every time my car behaved differently this whole forum would've been down by now from too much traffic....It's like every 5 mins it's a different car :wtf: My car is a ****** tease!

I didn't say it came back suddenly, it has been getting worse and worse, it seems to correlate with the weather getting colder.

The flash did cure all hesitation for me, but now it seems to be coming back.

ocassional hiccup, but it's rare. It has been colder since I got the flash, so the real test will be next summer. Was Mazda depending on this I wonder?

^ lol, probably

but yeah, my new car was flashed, but since september i've felt hesitation maybe 8 times
usually in 5th gear, while crusing and then getting on the gas.

I have had NO bucking sensation since the flash though, and this was my biggest complaint. Felt like I didn't know how to drive a stick when it happened. Very embarrasing.

Just received my Flash

I just picked up my MSP from the service dept. I can tell the difference immediately. I can feel the slight increase in power and torque. Also, I insisted on them replacing the Clunk in the rear suspension with the 156E bushings, which they have to order so I have to go back for.

But the biggest surprise was I asked them to look at the rust on the rotor hubs. I was told that they would replace all the rotors with new ones! Yes replace them! I was not expecting that. I was just looking for them to sand them and repaint.

They of course had to order them with the bushings so I have to go back. I got no BS or back talk about any issue. Im shocked!!!

Interesting thread..I'm still running bone stock, no flash yet.

This past summer the hesitation was horrible, but as soon as the weather cooled off a bit here in Houston, the problems with hesitation stopped so I really haven't made it a priority to get the flash done.

MSP is running great in the cooler weather, and the gas mileage is up..getting about 360-370 miles per tank.

I have noticed a gradual increase in bucking and surrging since the weather went cold here. I got the flash in September and it was fine for awhile, increase in mileage, drivability etc. My gas mileage went from 330 to 260 on the past four tanks. My car is set to go back to the dealer this week.

Let me know what you find out with that, my car is doing the same thing. My hesitation came back as well. I disconnect the negative terminal, press the brake, hook it back up....doesn't do a damn thing. I tried it that way, positive terminal and both off, still no change.

Damn learning computers.

I think its time to get back in mazdas face about this gents
