Here's a new-b question

KID, if you had just posted a decent post like that in the first place, you could have saved rocketspeed alot of time. Instead you'd rather **** up the whole thread and then have the nerve to call me arrogant.

I guess you MSP forum 'veterans' are being dicks in attempts to keep the newbies from coming in. That way you all can bs about how great your cars are, without any newbie spoiling things by telling you how bad it really is.

Look, you like your car, and that's cool. Just don't get so uptight if someone else doesn't like their car just as much. Some members on here are like "the wheel fell off, the engine blew at 1200 miles, and the doors won't shut, but I love my MSP, it's the greatest car ever." An exaggeration, of course, but not everyone is willing to suck it up and be happy they have a problem-plagued car that they are stuck with until it's financially feasible to sell it. This site just has such a bad overall atmosphere...all I want to do is learn about my MSP from guys that have more experience with them.
But yet, your signature is "My MSP sucks." Being a dick, to me, would be telling him to use the search and that he was stupid for asking a question. I wasn't being a dick, I was being stupid; something I do quite often. Get used to it and quit trying to be a big boy in front of your little friend, KID. If you don't like the car, pull a Dr.Sound and run it off a cliff. Trust me, I've thought about trading my car in MANY times due to problems. Then I realize that's what I get for putting ~25,900 miles on it in less than 8 months time. Get over yourself and your problems. Lighten up. Enjoy your life, your car, this board.

Have a nice night.

(2thumbs) or (asshole), I can't decide. lol. Anyway, nice talking to you.

Btw, I'm 32, which is just a little shy of being old enough to be your daddy, kid.

If you guys are frustrated by 17 year old kids that didn't pay for their car bitching about no whoosh and not being fast enough, fine- but save it for those kids. I sold an '03 GTI VR6 specifically to get this car and I'm glad I did it.

You think this car has problems? Check b15sentra.net, vwvortex.com or focaljet.com's SVT section. They've all got problems too!

You stand up for yourself. You just earned many points in my book. Name's Clay. If you need help, PM me here or on AIM.

Oil is a mod, by the way. :D

If you say so. I guess a dog can piss on your tire and you would consider that a mod too.

Oh, and I'm sure Rocketman feels so much better now that he's 'scored points with you'.

I'll stop contributing to screwing up the man's thread now.

I won't argue that point. But what problems 'the other car' isn't what concerns me. It's what problems MY car has. And in my experience, I have never had a car with so many problems-even an old one. Let alone a new one. That's my frustration. Anyway...I digress.

About this compressor surge/turkey sound. Are you referring to the screeching sound from the turbo during acceleration, or the sound when you push in the clutch to shift during acceleration?

If your turbo is making a "screeching" sound that is probably a bad thing. A turbo is supposed to make a "whine" type of sound. Maybe thats what you meant, but "screeching" to me is something metal on metal makes. You might wanna get that checked out. The "Turkey" is when you push in the clutch.

Thanks for your reply. That's what I was trying to figure out-The turbo makes the usual "whine" or "whistle" type of sound, but around 4k rpm or so under acceleration, the sound changes to a long "screech" noise. When I wasted my time getting the car 'flashed' at the dealer, the service mgr. rode with me so I could show him the horrible hesitation. I asked him if the 'screech' sound was normal. He said, "yes, they all do that." It sounds kind of cool, but I don't know if it is a damaging sound or not. I've never heard another turbo sound that way before.

I hear the turkey, but I don't know why I should want to kill it. How is it hurting my performance?

what do u mean u hear the turkey?

Rev it up to 4k (i haven't broken the car in yet, so I don't go higher), push in the clutch and the car makes a sound reminiscent of a turkey gobble. Its not terribly loud, but you don't have to listen too hard for it either.

Its the noise the car makes releasing the pressure the car makes. I've heard/read a million opinions now on it, but in the end, I don't think its going to cause problems on the car. Its just too apparent for Mazda/Callaway to have overlooked. Since you can safely assume they know of it, they would have corrected it if they thought it would negatively impact reliability.

I really don't think the "turkey" is a issue. The bypass valve on my Vortech isn't silent but makes a woosh sound. I think the "turkey" may just be the reverb effect of the air. I may try one of the bypass valves from my svt because it is a right angle passage for the air and see if the "turkey" goes away. I really don't mind the "turkey" but I think my aluminum bypass valve looks alot better than the stock unit.
