I have a mazda cx9 and have this horrible grinding/scratching noise coming from what I think is the Rear brake area. It is the loudest when I am almost stopped about 5 miles/hour including when I take my foot off the brake as costing to the complete stop. It starts again as I accelerate, but doesn't make a noise while I am in motion otherwise. I am hoping for brake pads and rotors. Any suggestions?? Thanks a lot, I don't know a lot about cars so any help is appreciated.

sounds to me like a sticking brake caliper or debris embedded in a brake pad. take it in and have it looked at.

Sounds like a stuck caliper or parking brake. Serious if you let it go too far. It can generate enough heat to warp the rotors and even start a fire.

Can you tell if one of the rims is heating up?
