Help with engine swap.

Hello all Im about to take out my Fed up engine and drop in one that I got form protg garage. I have a few questions. Do you need to take out the transmission at the same time or can you just take out the engine by it self? Second I have the PDF for the service manual because I cant find any other manual for my car. Has any one had to do this before and have any advice for this project?

If anyone had any suggestions that would be great.

To be honest with you, take it all out at the same time. It'll be easier to reintall while the engine is out instead of you on your back.

Agreed; yank it all out and just bolt the tranny on the new engine while it's out.

Well you can get the service manual from the dealer but that is like 200 lol. Technically you don't need to remove the tranny but it will make everything a hell of a lot easier. Bolting up the tranny from under the car is not fun. And give yourself a lot of time for this project and follow all of the torque specs.

give your self a weekend, that motor should be out in like 4-5 hours. with 2 people give it 3. but yes take the whole tranny out in fwd cars much easier, you dont have much room left to right and you need to move the motor over far eneough to clear the shaft. that and its easer to hav ethe clutch set and mated sittign down, then lying down.

Well the swap went great no problems really I have a working car once again; the whole thing took about a weekend. I would like to thank Ken @ protg garage for getting me a working engine, even if the valve cover was cracked.(glare) J.k. ken, now I just need to receive my headers and I will put up some pix. Thanks for everyones input.
