need opinions. where to buy,how much....
ive only checked tirerack.com till now and found the stock ones for 180
i kind of like these better http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...rch=true&partnum=145YR7S03PP&fromCompare1=yes
thats what the STIs come with stock right ? oh and the best part they are a lil cheaper then stock ones and the tread wears not bad.

MODS please dont move this thread for a couple of weeks. cuz no one reads the rims and tires section. thank you

STi's come with RE070's stock. The S-03 Pole Positions are good street tires, but they're too expensive IMO. Do you plan on autoxing? If so, those will probably not be as good as a set of Kumho MX's or the new Falken Azenis RT-615's. The Azenis are not out yet in stock size, but the MX's are and they're a lot cheaper than the S-03's.

A suggestion would be to go with the Falken FK-451's. They're good street tires and when the wear down, it's the same compound as the Azenis. Also, they're treadwear is pretty high, 280. You can buy them from vulcantire for $93/tire in the stock size or go with the 225/45/17 for the same price.

^^ What he said...

thanks msp102. im thinkin about getting the p5 rims and powdercaoting them. what a good size to go with the p5 rims ?

I have the Kumho Ecsta ASX's.......z-rated, all season, and 400 treadwear........they handle well in the dry and 10 times better than the stockers in the wet.

i dont care about wet handling at all. i want summer tires.do u think i can get 16 inch rims and tires for around 600 ? black or dark rims. i mean i know it all depends on the brand of the rims and tires...

I'm pretty sure people have fit a 215/45/16 Falken Azenis on the stock p5 rims. I just used engine enamel and painted by set of 626 rims and they turned out really well. Powdercoating is gonna cost you more, but you can do that too. Tires will cost about $300-400 so I don't think you'll be able to get a set of wheels and tires for $600 unless you get some used ones. Just look around the For Sale section and look for people who are selling their stock rims.

u use the S03 with the stock rims or the rota slipstreams. how much do the rotas cost and weigh ? our rims are 17 7 or 7.5 ? thanks again for the help

I have s-03's for the street. They're awesome, but like everyone said, pretty pricey.

im startin to really like the rotas. there goin for 400 on ebay . why did u go with the 7 ? btw i dont autox i just need for daily driving. too bad no one mentions how much they wiegh

i'm thinking about getting ecsta MXs on either the p5 rims or on the RH rims. they're not too expensive and they last for a good while. many people use 'em for auto-x even when they're bald. it's either those, or i'm going with the new azenis rt-615

how do u like the handling with the 16s compared to the 17s? and does it feel any faster ?

well, i'm gonna have to say that because of the tires the car feels more able to sweep through a turn. the thing about the wheels and tire combo that i had on the p5 rims, the car doesn't feel any different because the width of the tires made up for the 1" lost by going down from the 17s. in other words, the p5 rims/tires are as about as tall as the RH rims/tires.

Yeah I use the s-03's on the stock rims in 215-45-17. The stock rims are 17x7. The rotas cost me $500 shipped from www.machiii.net. They weigh 13.5lbs each.

Why did I go with 7" wide? I didn't see any reason to go with 7.5". You can fit 225s on a 7" wide wheel, and that's as wide as I'll need to go anyway. No need for me to have the extra .5" and the weight, plus I don't think they make slipstreams in 16x7.5. I've been thinking about picking up another set of 16" slipstreams for daily driving once my s-03's wear out. Hope this helps.

thanks for the help man. i think im gonna go with the rotas if theyre that light. i just wanna make sure that the handling will remain as good or better on the freeway(i know 16s are better for autox) but for higher speeds 70-90 are they as good as the 17s ?

Well, running the 16s will have the effect of running a higher final drive gear. So, you'll accelerate quicker, but you won't have as high of a top speed, and your rpm's will be a little higher for cruising. You can fix this by getting a higher sidewall tire and making it the same overall diameter as stock, but then you'll lose some performance. Also note if changing the overall diameter from stock will throw your speed off. Mine is off by 4.5% with 215-45-16 tires. It says I'm going faster than I am.

I like Falken Ziex 512's as my all season tire. I run them on both my MR2 and my P5 with not problems in the rain, snow or ice. I will most likely use them again when I put new rubber on my MSP. I think they run about $86/tire for the 17" and about $63 or so for 16".

I get my rubber from edgeracing.com

lol 2 tickets in 2 months. thatll be one of the pros for having 16s.

i think im gonna get the rotas. i dont know if i should sell my stock ones tho. they are in perfect condition and i kind of wanna keep them since they are limited production. but we'll see

I bought the summitomos for $82 a tire and I like the dry traction better than the OE's
but I think the sidewalls give just a little but other than that they are super smooth and a good price as well :)

brian do u have pix of ur car with the rotas? how much have u lower the car with the coilovers. i just wanna see if im gonna have a huge wheel gap with the 45/16 and goldline springs.
