Help, SUSPENSION PHUCKED !

I think I messed up something. I hit a bridge expansion joint going like 30. It was dark and the road was being repaved so the joint was like 2 inches above the ground. When I hit it the whole car jumped, I think I hit the bumpstops, I have H&R springs so it's lowered and I also have 17" wheels with 215/40-17 Nitto NT 450's. It rides fine sort of. Its real unsetteld now, Before it was tight and stable. Now it shakes and shimmies from about 50mph to 80 mph.

Whatya think happened ? Did I mess up the alignment, blow the struts. Or did I bend the wheels, or did I ruin the tires. I'm gonna take it in toget an alignment tommorow and see what they say, anything you guys have will help though. God I hope my wheels aren't bent, that would suck

this is probably a good excuse to buy new struts from mazdaspeed. I doubt you bent your wheels.. but See what the mechanics say.. sucks. sorry

yea just hope thats all it is, the struts. If you bent a rim you proly would have already noticed but i dunno.

Well I just got back form NTB. I got three bent wheels. 2 of which are not really that bad, the third is whacked. I had them rebalanced and rotated to the back. Its much better now, but not perfect, I'm gonna have to save up and get three more rims. I've only had these for 4 months. The alignment was OK the toe was off on one side a little, so they fixed it and it rides much better, no more shakes at high speed, just a little vibration at around 35 or 40, nothing serious. Aside from that there is no other damage, I didn't bottom out or bend anything. And the struts are fine, but I think I'll save up for them to anyway.

Well, you may want to contact your state transportation department. If the bump was unmarked and you weren't going over the speed limit, you might be able to get it covered by the state (depending on MD law). Go snap some pictures of it if you can.

I drove it by it on the way back from NTB. Suprise there's a sign there now. the expansion joint is 7-1/2 " above the pavement.

well unfortunatly my wheels I have now are discontinued. So I'm gonna have to get 4 new ones. I like these, the good thing is I only need wheels and not tires.
