Help please

Alright, I don't have a lot of time right now but I need to ask for your help.

I was installing new rotors, SS lines, and pads today and I got the front completed, but the rear caliper pistons wont budge. I couldn't push them back for anything to fit the new pads in. I tried two large clamps, bent a screwdriver and broke a breaker bar.

How the heck do you move these things?!?!

take off the cap for the brake fluid?

I dunno about these calipers, but all the other rear discs I've work with you have to screw the piston in.

From what i remember on changing the brakes on my old 92 protege, we had to screw the piston in and then realized it wouldnt go anymore, and took the cap off of the brake line fluid resevoir, adn then it would turn all the way in

I had the cap off and the ebrake off. I must be retarded or something.

Thanks Paul. Guess I'll have to make a drive to a mechanic with no brakes up in the moutains here. OH boy.

wtf...same thing for me today!!!!

I have done brakes so many times before on all the cars in my household!!!

I cant get them to go back any further! Please someone help me out here.

check out that link that Paul posted. It exlains that all you need is an allen wrench. Then all is well.

no problem, i have just been reading up on all the brake threads, and remembered someone having the same problem.I will be doing rotor, pads, and ss lines as soon as i order some, so i want to make it simple as possible for myself.

ok...new problem...my emergency break does nothing...I have 3x checked the reassembly and my ebrake feels so "sloppy" and its not doing a thing...

I went out for a drive and the breaks work well....so...I am lost.

any help? is the brake adjustable? I suck today....

here are the pictures that describe what you need to do to adjust the caliper position.

once you have adjusted them fully "out", place you pads and remount the caliper.

using the allen key....reposition the calipr/pads so that they just touch the rotor. Then.....turn BACK the allen screw 1/3.


Oh yeah...don't mind the unfinished caliper painting job.
