Help please--my LSD blew...

I'd hate to see you sell it when you finally get to a point where you have one less big repair to worry about!

Ken, has the shop given you a more solid day when i can expect to get this? I feel like an a$$ buggin you b/c I know we are both waiting on the welding shop, but I guess not knowing what day I expect the part is creating more stress than I tought it would.

I feel like I'm starting to be a burdon to the people that are picking me up and dropping me off to work every day (not to mention feeling like a burdon to you (poke), so I'd love to at least tell them when the light at the end of the tunnel will appear.

This is definitely contributing to an already shameful situation for yours truly, and come spring I am most definitely selling the car--too many bittersweet experiences with one car in such a short period of time. (shrug)

Man dont do that, with the lsd on the way all you got left is for a rod to bend :-P lol. But seriously read the post above mine, you have one big repair out of the way. Givin kens work in the past im sure you wont have to worry about it anymore.

So I'm guessing that puts it in my hands no later than Wednesday. Although the shop took a few days longer to finish it then we thought they would I'm sure it will be worth it.

Ken: as soon as you have tracking info can you please email that to me?

thanks rock-star (headbang)

This hasn't been confirmed by anyone else but I believe it was the diff screaming for help. I was experience what i thought was brake noise when I applied the brakes and turned left. It was a loud squeaky normal sounding brake noise. I tried to see if anyone else experienced that noise but I could not confirm it. I bought new pads and was going to install them but before I could the lsd went out. Got the car back and no more noise at all. I have been driving it for about a month and its quiet. So i'm not sure if thats the noise of the diff screaming or its just coincidental. If anyone experienced anything like this let me know.

no warning signs (other than maybe your driving habits, and even that's hasn't shown to be a determining predictor).

One day you have a limited slip differential and then the next you have an infinite slip differential...and yes...I'm falling out of love with this car since this happened.

Ken I'm dyin' here man. You told me it should only take a few days to get done and that was over a week ago.

tallrd - Sad to hear...but let me know if you do end up selling i might take some parts off your hands if you are willing to part some items out.

Not sure if I'm parting out or selling as is. I've got more than a couple mod's on it that I don't really want to hassle with taking back off. I might sell the CF hood b/c we're in eachother's back yard so delivery is a no-brainer, and the CF hood may or may not matter to the person that buys it. I'll keep you in mind when the time comes.

the plot thickens...

My shop just told me I was given a standard differential and not an LSD. Sounds like it's been rumored that Mazda is trying to slip customers standard diff's in place of the LSD's to save money. Hard to ingore that when I'm sitting here with a standard diff and not the actual LSD.

If that's verifiable in any way, shape, or form the s*** will hit the fan on this forum.

Ken is working on his guy at Mazda to get him the right part, and get it to me asamfp.

just got off the phone with mazda - they superceded the old part number GS01-27-190A (LSD) to GSY1-27-190 (standard), meaning they are trying to phase out replacing the LSD with open differentials. reason being that they no longer want pay the added cost of replacing the LSD :( the inventory system is such that we have to manually check the shelves at the warehouse for the correct part if one is there, then
pull it. typing the old part number in the inventory system merely changes it to the new number. on top of this, mazda has no intention of reimbursing me now that the shop had the carrier welded.

i will be getting a call in thirty minutes with a solution.

oh man...thas crazy..Hey Ken, does this mean you wont be able to sell the updated welded lsd on your site anymore?

i will be taking it down pending the warehouse's phone call back to me. i am also checking local dealers for possible stock on them. needless to say i am pretty disappointed in a few people - mazda, as i think this is a pretty lame move on thier part, my machine shop, for not noticing the difference in differential as i have had many welded there, and myself for not seeing the difference on the invoice as i cut the check. they even charge the exact same for the open diff as they did the LSD!
