Hi everyone,
I'm basically a car idiot, let's be clear about that. I need some informed opinions.
I'm in the market for a used car, and love that CX-7. Checked out a 2008 base model (no leather) with the turbo charged engine. The guy selling it was very honest, said it had a turbo issue and the local dealer put in some ventilation kit to fix whatever problem they had.
I'm reading an awful lot of BAD things about this vehicle, specifically the engine, VVT, engine sludge, etc.
My question is this: is it wise to buy this particular vehicle now that this engine mod was done, or is this a huge red flag? If the mod fixed the problem, I'd like to take it to a mechanic first, and what should I ask them to look for specifically (sludge, etc).
Any and all help appreciated. I've read some threads previously but don't have the technical knowledge to follow along.
