Returning home tomorrow and will average the mpg, although my route home will be slightly different.
This was my assumption - I was wrong. Although manually you can still beat the CC, it is pretty good. It downshifts when you want to slow down. Thus being more efficient. And like rest of the traits it is good - if you set at 60. It will be +/- 2 mph at max.

Check/set your tires +2 or 3 psi door spec when cold, don't go over 80 unless coasting downhill, lock it in 6th gear and no CC. Do those simple things and I'm willing to bet you'll net close to double digit % gains...its there if you try a little is all I'm saying
Started using a fuel app about 10 fill ups ago. I never expected this good the way I drive. Last few keep creeping up. 25+ on the last? Wow.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn you drive as aggressively as I do.

Disagree. Vehemently. Maybe you don't drive like me. My commuter is 65 / 45 city / highway. I hit 80...every. Single. Day. I pass 15 cars for every 1 car that passes me. And that may be being generous. I drive very aggressively. Very, capital V. This car puts a smile on my face....just like my 225 HP Saab used to do. This car, to me, is fast enough.
I may never see 100 in my CX5...and I'm fine with that. I did hit 100 in my Volvo today...seriously ... And just for a second because I haven't done that in years.... And I don't need to regularly.

Oh yes, absolutely. Even though I have these awesome blind spot monitors that tell me it is safe to get in front of you, I still let you know I'm moving in front of you.Hope you use your indicators/blinkers/turn signals (wink)

Well your last comment explains a lot, Unob. Get on that thang, brother. It's a real tranny, not a CVT. It wants to be pushed. It still surprises me, almost every day, how quickly this thing gets to 80... it shouldn't...it's not a sports car. And I'm not even using Sport mode. And when I DO occasionally drive tamely? The MPG is just sick. Sick, good, sick. Geez...I want to go drive now.....

The one I drove a few weeks ago hustled pretty good to 80kmh.

I know. Our speed limit on freeways is 110kmh which is 68mph. No chance of hitting 80mph without being pretty much caught by speed cameras or the police or on dashboard camera^ That's 80 MPH or 130kph

85-90 is normal traffic speed on many of the roads I frequent. Posted limits are 85. Miles per hour. CX5 can't hack it. It's a great little city car though. For road-trips, it struggles and is horribly inefficient, I've found. Big let-down, that. At least it takes the cheap gas.
Probably wasn't envisaged to be travelling at that speed anyway.
I think it's a fine enough car for our speed limits which are:
- 40km/h (25mph) - city centres
- 50km/h (31mph) - suburban areas
- 60km/h (37mph) - main roads in suburban areas
- 70-90km/h (44-56mph) - highway/freeway/motorway near residential areas
- 100-110km/h (62-68mph) - general highway/freeway/motorway
Note - These are for the greater Sydney area
