Help!! Lunges in first gear

My car just started acting up. When I take off in first gear the car lunges and the Rpm's go up and down. When I shift to second and any other gear it runs fine. If I start out in second it takes off smoothly. Any idea's??

You probably need a new clutch. Does it do it if you add a bit more gas before releasing the clutch?

clutch is fine. I did have the cel on before which showed radom miss-fire and cat. Can it have anything to do with the cat? It acts as if there was a high perf. cam in itor blower, thats how I would explain the how it feels. RPM's go up and down, only in first gear though.

Check for clogged cat.
