help! lowering springs

hi everyone... i have a 2000 Protege LX....
i want to lower my car but dont know which lowering springs to buy.... b/c i dont want to go too low.. b/c the back tires some times rub already if i hit a bumper going to fast....
I have 215/35/ZR18 Nitto Tires w/ 18" Quantum Tek rims
which springs would be best for me???
eibach? ion? intrax? or what ever else there is...
i would appreciate your help..... thank you in advance

I hear allot of people are using Eibach (1.3" drop)

I too am in the market so any info would be fantastic. Here is another question...

Is it necessary to change out the shocks? I blew the ones on my Acura almost immediately once I installed the Eibach prokit and I had to blow more coin on some tokico's. I have a P5 and I figure there should be no reason to change out the shocks since it already comes with a "sporty" suspension.

I have Eibachs, there great, I would like a little more drop but i think once winter comes around I will be happy i stayed this the drop it has... As for gettin new struts.. Depends how many miles you have.. I think that im going to get new struts after winter. But for me, I want a realy really tight car, Good luck. I think the Eibachs are worth every penny

Leaks? No I have not heard about anyone with that prob.. But Im at like 40,000 with my car, the sprigns have been in for 500-800 i think.. the struts seem softer so im gonna get new stiff ones after winter.. But with the springs it handles soooo good, no body roll or anything..

struts...but yes, eventually you will, and you will know immediately when you do...to say how far down the line is impossible due to different road and driving conditions all over the world...but eventually, you will need them...ive had my springs on for about 6k miles (odometer is at like 5700 now i think) and still no problems with struts...however, thats a low milage, but just to give you an idea that you shouldnt need to replace them within a few thousand miles

hey dogg and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. (stash)

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

I would question the offset you have on your wheels now....if they are rubbing now they are REALLY going to rub when you lower your car...

as razor mentioned the life of your struts will depend on the roads in your area....some people have had them last as much as 40K miles....others only 15K....just depends on how rough/smoothe your area is.

Personally if you want a decent ride and want to lower but NOT TOO far....my choice would be the Eibach's.

I too am going to have to recommend the Eibachs. They are not a huge drop but you might have a little trouble with the rear wheels. I am running 205/40/17 and they are pretty much tucked. I am interested to see how it turns out because I think I am getting 18s down the road and I am concerned with rubbing.

BTW, with the springs you still have enough clearance with the kit to make it around town without scraping on every little bump. Do you have pics of the new bumper yet?

Protege00dogg - what offset do you have on your wheels? You may need to machine the hub down 2-3mm to bring the offset closer to 50mm.

Our Sport Spec springs will lower your car ~1.18". If you're rubbing in the rear already, you won't want to go any lower then 1.2" tops. Another alternative for you would be the stock MSP or MP3 springs.

i dont know what your guys mean my offset or anything like that... i dont know much about tires and the suspension....

a low offset on you wheels will make them stick out more causing the tires to rub the inside of the fender.
