Help - I can't get into my car

I bought my CX-5 used. I locked the doors and the car battery went dead. The little red LED on the fob lights up when a button is pushed so it probably isn't that. I thought I would open the door with my emergency key. I went to use it and realized it was never cut. Is there any way to open the hood and charge the battery? Is there an external means to power the car? I really don't want to go to a Mazda dealer to get a new key as the closest is 100 miles away. Any and all ideas would be appreciated.
 
I am not sure you can open the hood and charge the batteries without opening the door. But road services agencies (AAA or CAA, etc) should be able to get the door open for you. It isn’t really hard to do with the right tools and knowledge (like they do for anyone that locked their key in the car)

Once the driver door is open you can pop the hood and charge the battery.
 
Something to consider, Mazda vehicles can be unlocked by applying 12V power to the car’s electrical system externally, even with a dead battery. If you apply 12V to the starter terminal, the car’s electrical system wakes up and the key fob will unlock the doors. You would just have to remove the bottom engine cover and do a bit of maneuvering.

You might also be able to get a locksmith to cut the key using the VIN.
 
What year car is this?

Do you have a spare fob? There should be a small tag that has the key code to cut a new key. I mention a spare fob because, I have that tag to the fob with a key ring.
 
Is there no physical key hidden inside the fob?

I'm trying the starter terminal thing. Sadly the battery only reads 67 mV. So I'm afraid the battery might be shorted. I tried the ground in several spots and get the same reading. But I have an old transformer type charger that I'm trying to charge the battery with.

So you were able to get a reading on the battery?

I'm not sure how much power to apply but I would be conservative. I'm thinking the kind of power a trickle charger puts out, just a few watts.

I assume the cable that comes from the alternator also goes up the battery. I can't imagine it being anything other than a direct connection from the battery to the starter.

Maybe I misunderstood. Were you talking the small terminal that engages the solenoid?
