Help Fuse Gone?

I am not a handy person. Oh well. I ordered a set of LED white lights for the interior of my CX-5 and started putting them in. From went ok. Back overheads not so. I must have gotten confused as to whether the switch was off because when I was fiddling a white light flashed. Now the lights don't come on and I can't start the car. I assume it's the fuse but which one? Could it be worse? Hope not. What an idiot.

Your owners manual will have a picture and description of the fuses and the location. However; since I suspect you are just getting on the learning curve, possibly help from someone will assist. Ed

I'm pretty sure it's just a blown fuse, should be an easy fix, just need to find the fuse, most likely it's located in the fuse panel by driver side left foot shin area. Check the owners manual for the interior lights fuse, I recall reading somewhere in the forum that same thing happened to another owner when he swapped the front dome lights, car wouldn't start either, he found the blown fuse and all was well, no need to panic, should be an easy fix

Mostly likely you shorted the positive and negative wire contacts when you took out the oem glass bulb or the new leds circuit board was bad to begin with and shorted your interior lights circuit. or just your bare fingers can short out the circuit if it's sweaty, always wear rubber gloves when changing interior bulbs.

Your check engine light might come on after you replace the fuse, you'll just need to drive a couple of drive cycles then it should go away, CX5 electrical circuit is a little wonky. Who would have thought a blown interior light fuse will prevent car from starting. May have do to with the BCM module, that controls the lights, door locks, advanced keys so I would assume also the car start.

It should be fuse #54 in the engine compartment fuse box it's a 15 amps fuse, per manual description. ROOM (overhead lights), good luck hopes this helps. Let us know how it goes.

Admittedly, I don't know a lot about CX-5s (yet) since I won't have one for another 2 weeks but I find it hard to believe that a fuse blowing because of a shorted out light would prevent the engine from starting.

"Room fuse" in the cabin fuse box is the culprit most likely. When in doubt, DC the battery

I had the same problem when installing led bulbs in my dome lights.I used a screwdriver to pry out the factory bulbs and must have shorted across the terminals. Didn't see any flashes.The "ROOM" fuse #54 was indeed blown.Had no instruments ,wouldn't start, no power windows etc.Luckily I knew what to check thanks to info posted on this forum.Kinda scary at first but easy fix.

Thanks for all the help. Replaced the fuse (there was a spare in the compartment) and everything works. I was worried because nothing was working. Seems odd.
