HELP engine doesnt crank

aight i took a small video with sound to show you guys what it does

i was able to start the car at work by pushing it. i'll post video in a few

EDIT: grrr it's not letting me upload the video. it's a 3.something mb. i dont know whats wrong ... i have a 7mb avi in there, i dont know why its not taking this one. i'm using 16mb / 100

dude sounds like ur starter is ******. armature sounds stripped. try bangin on the starter n see if she starts

btw it was making the same kinda noise for a little while, like it would roll 2 ~3 times then make that weird cracking noise then crank again and start

it sounds like a really fukd up starter to me but I have never seen a problem like that before

it almost sounds like the starter is grinding itself to death or something

very odd

Is that sound centered on where you focused the camera? Did this start after you got your tranny fixed and reinstalled?

99.9% sure it's a starter!!!

the noise actually comes from the engine i think. ill have to ask someone to try to start the car while im listening to the engine again

btw, to whoever mentionned the voltage while the car is running ... it's 14.2

that was me n ur good there then so ur alt n batt r good. but that sound is a starter i have heard it tons o times.

To rule out the starter, you can push start the car.

I'm no expert but that sound is your starter and not anywhere from your motor. It sounds like the starter is grinding the flywheel..that's why your thinking it's somewhere from the motor....so stop testing please. Pop start it like you've been and get it to a shop.Good luck man!

yeah when you take the starter out check to see if the gears are screwed up, if it is you might want to take your tranny out to check on the flywheel

excuse my ignorance ... but how does it work? the started makes the flywheel turn? Where are those gears? I thought the started was the round black thing in the corner behind the battery?

The starter spins the motor. The teeth on the starter "gear" are pushed out by the starter solenoid when activated. The teeth then mesh with the teeth on the flywheel, and allow the starter to turn the motor over, until combustion takes over

Focus said something about the starter solenoid too ... where is that? i'm assuming i can't get to it unless i take out the transmission if it makes contact with the flywheel?

with what you just told me, now i'm thinking maybe the gear is ****** too ... because it turns once and then stops

i'll try to get the dealer to fix it this week ... i'm sure it'll be easier to get that fixed than the blown lsd hehe
