Help! Cracked exhaust manifold.

I would love to see proof that dealer charges 2,000 for a replacement manifold. Maybe manifold and turbo and down pipe

When i had a bad manifold in 2010 they quouted me a s*** ton like $1800 I just rounded up... But no bulls*** man, Thats what they wanted me to pay...

That's rediculous, better include timing belt oil change rebuilt turbo and a blow job for all that

The stock racing harts are 17x7 not 7.5 and have a 55mm offset I believe.

You can check fitment using this website: http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator

I can tell you from my experience that 17x7 with a 38mm offset rub on the outside fenders in the rear when you hit a bump so I'm guessing that unless you get some really high offset 8" wheels they are going to rub or you will have to roll the fenders. I'd say a 17x7 with 42 mm offset would probably be safe. Basically, when using the calculator, you want it to say that the wheel extends 13mm or less on the outside.

Okay cool thanks man! I wheels I want are 18x8 with a 50mm offset so do you think that would fit? And I think I'm actually getting a direct replacement turbo manifold off protege garage.

Reluctantly answering your questions since I gave you the website to check for yourself, but no those 18x8 won't work. My car rubbed with the wheels sitting 17mm closer to the fender and you will be sitting 18mm closer.

It sounds like your car has some issues anyway based on the cracked manifold and all, I would probably hold onto your cash for now and fix the stuff that needs to be addressed to keep this thing on the road before I go buying new wheels and tires for the hell of it.

Edit: I should say that they won't work unless you roll the fenders. That too will cost money you probably should be putting towards something else on this car.

Since I just posted this in another thread, it reminded me, you should probably take this opportunity to replace the front and rear engine mounts as they are one of the reasons that the manifold develops cracks. Chances are yours are destroyed. Either get new stock mounts and put some urethane inserts in them (from corksport or similar) or go with a set of urethane mounts. Beware that both will significantly increase the NVH compared to just using the stock rubber ones.

LOL I would LOVE to hear how this chinese BS is better? personal grudge or something?

thoughts exactly. i mean i havent tested mine out yet since im doing doing built engine swap soon and itll be going in then in about 2-3 weeks time. so i cant give a proper opinion on it. but this thing seems really well built compared to my old thunder v3 manifold i had.

If I had the money I would absolutely order one, probably spending it on coilovers though.

its just very poorly crafted IMO. the tig welds look awful, pitted and appear to have little to no penetration and it's made out of stupid thick sch30 pipe so its heavy. If I wanted a heavy manifold I'd find a steedspeed. Just because something has a ceramic coat on it doesn't mean its "THE GREATEST MANIFOLD EVER OF ALL TIME IN THE UNIVERSE". but this is all just me. everyone is entitled to think what they want.

Honestly the ebay mani may be the way to go I just don't trust it to last even after getting it milled true.

OBX says it will fit the MSP ... But it wont if you look at the pictures theres nowhere to attach it to the turbo. However there is another ebay one for 200 bucks
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MAZDA-1-8L-...ge&hash=item51ac306c20&vxp=mtr#ht_6660wt_1030 If your tight on money then this is your best option... Stock from the dealer is like $2,000. also ive heard good things about this ebay manifold.. My friend has it and he had to have a machine shop flatten the surface because it wasnt tottally flat.. But since he got it flattened and installed he has never had a problem..

Its now Aug. 29, 2013 and mine is shot cracked ! I was thinking about just welding it to fix the problem. Is that worth doing and leaving it alone?
The previous owner put a Mazda 626 Manifold
What was the benefit in putting a 626 manifold the MSP 2003.5

The 626 intake manifold is what people swap into the MSP because it does not have the VICS and VTCS flaps. You lose low end and gain top end power.

i brought mine from ebay seller they used to sell it for 199.99

after i brought them and everyone heard of it, they sold dozons of them, and price jacked up to 399.99 now a day... its similar price to protegegarage

when i talk to the US reseller on ebay they told me the factory doesnt ship directly to buyer

but the factory guy from china start listing their manifolds bythemself its 110+80 shipping anywhere. its exactly the same.

just make sure u reinforce the manifold and engine mount before u install it. its fragile, with stiff mount and reinforcement

mine has been running on my car for 2 weeks i think. they work great, except its too hot. it burns plastic if u dont have heat shield/ good ventilation

Do you think a guy could get the steed speed mani and get a t3 to t2 conversion flange or would that make the turbo sit too low?

Hey boss what do you think of S.Unit Manifold
StreetU
Its running at $395.00
Of course I need a gasket kit, +$22.00
Do I need the EGR Pipe Option +$70.00?

Quite Expensive !
Any better options ? Besides Ebay BS?

That is the exact same as the '626' manifold, save yourself $350 and just get one from a junkyard from a 01-02 626 that doesn't have the VICS/VTCS solenoids.

Are you looking for a turbo manifold or an intake manifold?
