Hey guys i dont want to sound like a noob but im getting a whistle sound when i accelrate over ther sound of the turbo since i installed my tip. Had the cai brfore with no problems since the addition of the tip i get this damn whistle sound. Called corksport for no help at all. I seem to think the noise is from the 45 degree coupler from the aem intake to the tip. If anyone else has had this problem and found a solution please let me know. Corksport sells the shortram/tip combo with the right 45 degree reducer coupler but will not sell the coupler to the public by itself?!!! Wtf?!?!?!

Your assumption is probably correct...I bought the SRI/TIP combo and haven't had any issues. It's most likely caused by the wrong size coupler you already had. You're gonna have to find a better way to seal it on the TIP side.

The corksport TIP diameter where it connects to the intake coupler is slightly smaller than OEM. You have to clamp it down really really tight.

Correct. You have to make sure everything is tight. You can get a whistle noise from any air exiting the intake system so if for some reason you messed with your bypass valve too, check that. I promise it's something you just need to tighten up and seal better.

I work at a mazda dealership i have taken everything apart numerous times. The diameter in the tip is 2.25 and the diameter of the cai is 2.75. I have even broken hose clamps tring to tighten all. Still have the damn noise. Derrick from corksport is now tring to help me with this problem. We have two cars with the same mods and both are whistling. Mine and a buddy who also bought a 2012. Very frustrating i even used the tip off another friends 09 speed with my intake and with his there is no whistle. He has the sure motorsports tip..

Have you tried t-bolt clamps? there was a gap in the silicone coupler from my cpe nano intake to the cs TIP due to the difference in diameter but I was able to tighten it down pretty good. I mentioned this difference to Derrick so they could see what can be done. I'm sure they'll figure something out.

What evidence is there that it's the 45* coupler after you have tightened the clamps? Tbolt clamps would be better but not super necessary on the non boosted side. Have you looked at the connection from the TIP to the turbo? Sometimes it's tough to get the bottom of the coupler to mate on to the inlet ring on the turbo. Just trying to come up with suggestions. I'm sure you've checked everything but many times these things make us feel dumb for how simple they are when we find the problem.

HAVE TAKEN ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES, WHEN I SWAPPED TO SILICON VARIENT FROM SURE MOTOR SPORTS ALL THE NOISE WAS GONE.... wAITING ON A COUPLER FROM DERRICK AT CORK SPORT...KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED

Just got the couplers in almost all whistle noise is gone still have a little though. But i can deal with it..thanks to the derrick at cork sport and you guys for your help

Good to hear the result. We have not had something like this come up before with the TIP.
