My was sitting at the airport for four days while I was in Florida( I live in NY). I go to unlock it and nothing. I am like the battery is dead. Sure enough, I unlock it with the key, I look in and its dark as hell. No lights, nothing. I get a jump start, it takes a minute to charge, but the car fires right up. I get home, park it in the driveway like always. An hour and ahalf later I need to take a quick ride to the store, get in, it starts right up. I'm like good, the battery must have charged up ok...................
The next day after its been sitting for 15 hours or so, i try to start it, nothing. I am like, the battery again! I call a buddy to come jump my car again, but when we hook the cables up, nothing...We check the volts coming off the battery and its 12 volts. We try to let the cables stay on alittle longer but still nothing.........So, we push start it and it starts right up.... We check the volts coming off the alternator and its pushing 14 volts to the battery.......So I am not sure whats going on. I ruled out the battery and the alternator. Need help!!!!!! has this happened to anyone?

You should try to charge the battery for an hour or so. If I leave my alarm on and don't drive the car for a while it will not have enough juice to start. I've had that happen more than a few times. A recharge always brings it back to life. I know its got to be on its last legs as its the original battery and I've never had one last this long.

take your battery to autozone, have them test it. It sounds like its time for a new battery...

I just bought this battery last winter......The weird thing is that after I push started it and drove it to work, when i got to work and shut it off it wouldnt start again.......Here is the weird part, after l get done with work, which was 9 hours, I get in the car and bam, it starts right up???????????????

How do the battery terminals look? lots of build up on them? If so, clean them off good...

Check the terminals. I went to start my car yesterday, and, nothing. No lights, no gauge lights, not even a tick from the starter trying. Just dead. So, popped the hood and wiggled the batt terminals, cause, after having sat with the hood off, the terminals gunk'd up. So, wiggled em to get a connection and it fired right up.

Have the batt check'd at autozone. If it's fine, check the battery terminals and cables

Cleaned the terminals.......I had lights, everything was on, just nothing when i tried to start it.

checked the battery, it was putting out 12 volts and then 14 volts when the car was running.?????? So the alternator was putting out........

I had a battery for 3 months and it ended up with a dead cell, so don't rule out the battery. It happens. If you have your receipt you should just be able to trade it in for a new battery if that is the issue. Although, a dead cell for me ended up with it overcharging, which doesn't seem like a problem with your car.

The thing is that I had a pair of jumper cables hooked to the car and still nothing. It wouldnt even turn over with a steady flow of juice to the car.????????

Check your signal wire on the starter. Make sure it has a tight connection. If you have a testlight, see if it lights when the key is turned to the "start" position. If it does- give your starter a gentle tap with something and see if its starts. If you have no switched B+ on the single wire connector- I would be checking my clutch switch and things like that. Do you still have the factory alarm?

have the battery tested first...i've had a battery go bad after a short time, it's unlikely, but it happens, start there

check for any type of electrical draws for the sub and amp, also test your alternator a dif way, get the car started, let it run, and unhook the battery.. if it stays running, your alt is good and you either have a bad battery or an electrical draw somewhere in the car.

If both the BATTERY and ALTERNATOR test as good:

Disconnect your NEG battery cable, and connect a test light (NOT a DVM) between the NEG terminal on the battery and the NEG cable end. If the test lamp lights up bright, you have a voltage drain somewhere.

Remove your fuses one at a time until the light goes out. If it does, you've isolated the circuit with the drain. If not, replace that fuse before removing the next one.

If removing fuses doesn't cause it to go out, disconnect non-fused items, one at a time. (Alternator, starter solenoid, ignition switch, etc.)

If disconnecting a component makes the light go out, that will be your battery drain.

NOTE: If you have a radio w/ station memory and/or a clock, there will be a SMALL constant battery drain (THIS IS NOT YOUR PROBLEM) and the test light will glow DIMLY. You're looking for a BRIGHT glow from the test light.

I did disconnect the battery while it was started and the car stayed running.
twowings, thanks, I will try looking for the drain this weekend and let you know.
