HELP! Car is dead...

Hey guys,
So i went out to start my 06 speed 6 this morning and no dice... When i turned the key, the dash lit up for a brief second like normal, but right before the starter would normally start cranking i heard a click and everything died. The car has absolutely no power, no dome lights, power locks, when i turn the key to accessory nothing, car obviously won't crank, no dash lights, no nothing. was late for work so i didn't have time to pop the hood, but has this happened to any of you guys? My first instinct was a blown fuse, but what fuse would kill everything? Any help / advise would be greatly appreciated... Thanks guys,

Try jumping it....it's probably your battery.

Get your battery tested. From there you'll know if you have a bad battery or if your alternator gave up on charging it.

check your battery for bad connection as well.

I'll definately try testing the battery, but I just replaced the battery less than a month ago. It has a brand new die hard... Oh god i hope it's not the alternator, that does not look fun to replace.... Thanks guys for the replies!

My guess is a loose connection on one of the battery terminals.

ticking is from the starter not getting enough juice to pop and start turning.

your battery shouldnt be dead, if there was enough juice to run around in your car its most likely a fuzze battery post or a loose connection.

dont worry, the stock battery does this to me monthly.

mine had the same problem abouta month ago i took it into the service department and they deemed a dead alternator and battery allong with a short somewhere in my radio so they got a new alternator and battery fixed the short and i believe threw in new solenoids and a new started which fixed the problem so have them check that out...

It could also be the MAIN fuse, have a dealer check it.

As it turns out, i checked my battery connection and the employee at Sears that installed the battery neglected to tell me that the factory battery terminal connector was larger than the post on the positive side. So my cable was able to just be lifted off the battery no matter how hard the connector was tightened. I installed the new connector and problem solved! Thanks guys so much for the advise!

Damn those Sears guys! Good thing that was a cheap fix (yippy)
