How the hell do you get that M or U shaped clip back in the caliper after the brake pads are reinstalled?

...you're just putting your brake pads back on, right?

I've done a lot of brake pad changes.. at least one of them on my car. ...what's the problem?

I'm putting the caliper back on since I'm done painting it.

Anyway, I pul the metal clips on that hold the pads, then I put the pads themselves in. There's also a U or W shaped "spring" that clips in on the pads, but I cannot get it back in.

Any ideas?

If you help me with this, I'm coming to Pasadena and bringing you back to Austin with me.

rofl. Well. It's hard to remember, but, I don't think they were too important.. You just squeezed 'em and they clipped in over the shim. I don't know if it'd be worth pulling the caliper off and putting them back in.. you might want to get a second opinion though.

I'd rather not leave parts out of my brakes, though. Why is the service manual no help whatsoever?

I'M JUST WONDERING :P

Gauging how hard it'll be to put them back on.
If your wheels aren't on yet, you can just flip the caliper open and badda-bing, badda-boom, springs are in just like that.

You know it just flips up, right? I forget what you have to take off.. but yeah.. the top of the caliper will just open.

That's for easy brake pad changing.

This has become a conversation.. maybe I should just AIM you. Haha.
