Hello 2012+ Mazda5 Owners!

Hi!!

2012 Mazda5 Touring with Moonroof/Audio Package
Clear Water Blue
Privacy tint on rear windows (looks very good that way, surprised it doesn't come std. or as a factory option)
As someone else posted... Love the bluetooth music streaming, climate control and the red electronics display.

Purchased: 10/12/2012 ~ currently 600+ miles

Replaces a 2005 Dodge Caravan - can actually stand 2 mountain bikes in back (with seat post removed - no big deal) - love it so far! Except for vibration at highway speeds - argghhh! Working on it!

Hi People!

New Owner here:
2012 MZ 5 Pearl White
6spd manual
Roof Rack
Bluetooth package
8000km so far purchased in July 2012

I've owned nothing but Fords as my dad is retired from there after 35yrs. The two Ford Focus I owned were terrific cars, then my wife and I started having kids. I bought an 09 Escape in 2008 and it was a good car but we had a few issues with the electrical system and endless transmission problems that never seemed to get fixed. As the frustrations mounted with the car the customer service was getting worse and worse. After the 3rd child was born we were busting out of the SUV. I was going to wait for the CMAX but the improvements in the 2012 Mazda 5 were enough for me to say "screw it". I guess the CMAX will also have a higher MSRP, so win win for us. I will say this about Mazda...what a great car buying experience. They really know how to sell a car without making you feel like your getting ripped off. We've done 8000km in this car so far and I love it. I tell everyone who will listen, "It's like driving a bigger Focus".

First off, congrats. Second, I've installed a Draw-Tite hitch receiver (1.25") and Curt wiring harness. No problem at all, but if you go with Curt brand, you will need to cut out a section of mufller heat shield.

You can find several brands of hitch receivers for the Mazda5 here: www.etrailer.com
Hello ,
I have purchased a MZ5 on June 16 2012 in Ottawa,Ontario.
2012 Mazda5 GT , AUTO
Luxury pkg ( Sunroof+leather)
Aluminum Metallic
OEM Roof rack, cargo net, rear bumper protector,
Aftermarket : Tint windows , 35% front, 20% side and a Chrome tail pipe

Right now the odometer is showing around 1400km, no issue so far(friday) a lot better than my previous 2008 Nissan...

What I Like = great looking and easy/fun to drive for a wanna be mini van, HID xenon headlight ,the sliding doors and trunk

What I don't like = Cannot install a trailler hitch (from the Mazda owner manual) , a little bit of Understeer, The front door panel : 1) the top is covered with fabric and not with leather (I have the leather interior) 2) the plastic can scratch easily) 3) could have a better storage in those door panel .

Just bought a 2012 Grand Touring last Friday. Went with the Copper Red. So far we are loving it.

The only thing so far that I am not a fan of are the upholstered parts of the doors. Just feel kinda cheap and the cloth doesn't really go great with the leather in our car. Almost thinking about seeing what it would cost to get the re-upholstered with something nicer. Other than that it is a fantastic car, and is so easy to drive!

Hello there, finally decided to register to this great forum.

Future MODS: Tint, spray the oem 17" wheels flat black, Turbo maybe?

Impression: Coming from a bmw vehicle this car has great handling driving experience for the money and interior is decent for the money as well.

Current Issue or problem noticed on the car:
- hid xenon headlamp is not lined up properly where it's not projecting a straight line (maybe intended or not perfected

Nope didn't bother with the extended nor any of the protection packages. I thought about the protection for undercoat which is a lot cheaper by the way from outside of the dealership but I figure the 5 should be good for 7 years and hopefully then time for a new vehicle more or less.

So by the way I actually doubled my mileage by driving to Lynnwood yesterday and man was I surprised on how well it handled on the road when dry and when its raining pretty hard. Overall all the money was definitely put into the driving experience of this vehicle. Also only cost me $25 bucks back and forth from Surrey to Lynnwood WA.

On our 5 we went with the 6yr/120km warranty and undercoating and misc. Had the same on my 03 MPV (had the 7yr/160KM on that actually) ...it was only needed once but that 1 time the extra coverage paid for itself. I'm the type that needs peace of mind, lol.

I'm getting about 9.5/10.5L per 100KM ...for a big 4cyl it's on track.

For the first couple of days mine is showing 14-15L per 100km
Then after I went to US it's now at 12.5L/100km

Maybe it's breaking-in ...though my first tank was 515KM (70% highway) with about 10L left.
Almost at 3000KM now and I'd say 60hwy/40city weekly and 450KM (+/-20KM) on about 50L.

Hey bud what was your mileage when you where able to attain 9.5/10.5L per 100km?

I'm currently just slightly over 1000km and still at 12.5L/100km.

Also what exactly is the break in mark of our mazda5?

Thanks!

I got about 9.5L/100 KM on the very first week driving up to Whistler for the day with the family. Pretty much all highway that day. During the week it is a mix of hwy/city when I go to work.

What's up Metalfab! This is my same username on BCMazda3. :)

FYI, I averaged 9.5L/100km over the 61,000 km I tracked my fuel usage in my old 2007 Mazda 5 with the 5 speed manual, 65% city. Just keep RPMs low is my advice. The 2.5L has enough torque anyway, my 2.3L was a bit anemic at low RPMs but meh, the occasional rev up to 6,000 RPM is good for the soul. :) http://www.fuelly.com/driver/dkazzed/5

JMJinNC, if you're deciding between UltraGauge and ScanGauge, I have the UltraGauge myself. Your 5 would have a similar possible mounting location.

DKaz, I noticed the nick before even reading the thread :) ...trying to find a reasonably active 5 forum and this seems to be the best so far. I am a long time member of MPVClub which has a 5 section but its dead.

Yep, this is by far the best forum available for the Mazda 5. Lots of good info here.

So your stereo/HVAC readout is blue, and not red? I wish our '12 were that way. Way too much red in that thing.

Got to change my driving habits then... I seem to be stuck at 12.6L/100km . currently at 1100km
