Heated front windshield.

So I got the remote start feature to help me warm up the car before I get it, however the front windshield heating doesn't work as expected and only melts ice/snow on a patch where the warm air is blowing from the inside. Am I doing anything wrong or is it just like that?

I wish automakers come up with some good technology to warm up front windshields.

Most cars if they have an actual heated windshield (similar to the rear with the element lines on the glass) they only heat where the wipers sit on the glass at the bottom. Otherwise, leave your front defroster on with heat on full blast when you get out. By the time your engine gets to temp, your heater should be thawing the glass nicely. It may just take a few minutes depending on the amount of frost or snow. As the glass down low gets warmer, that heat spreads across the glass.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing so far and since I got the remote engine start it kinda helps get the cabin warm by the time I get in, but the front windshield just doesn't heat up well. I've gotten the prestone deicer and it has been working well so far, just spray leave it in a few seconds and voila, you have your ice melted. But it would have been so awesome if the auto industry came up with a cooler front windshield defrosting technology.
