headunit choices

It not bolted in, i did my mine myself...what i did is take off the glove box and there are cables for the ac, heat and stuff like that connected and you have to disconnect them and the hole front piece of the dash will come off

Cool. How is the front of the dash connected... clips, screws or what?

take a flathead screw driver and tape the end of it with masking tape and just go around it and pop it out...easy...The masking tape is so you wont damaga or scratch it..once you get the glove box off you will ee what cables im talking about...I was seriously stumped and i wanted to just rip it off lol....just make sure you hook the cables back up correctly or you air flow and stuff will be ass backwards...lemme know how it goes..
The finished product..enjoi

just rip the front face off and ytou will see where you are catching on the sides and be able to pull the radio out.

I tinkered with it this afternoon and was able to get the stock head unit out. I wish I had known how to remove the dash earlier... then I could've taken out the stock unit and kept it to sell/trade/give to another P5 owner.

did you damage it all? lol i hope you too kthe cd's out before you took it out...I had to disect mine to get em back cause i wasnt about you rip my dash apart again

The face itself is fine, but I bent some stuff underneath the face. I'm sure all the internals are fine, but it's not going to be usable any longer without a couple replacement parts for the exterior. And yeah, I remembered to remove the CDs before I removed it. LOL

After taking two evenings to get the old head unit out, it literally took me only 30 minutes to get the new one completely installed and working. Now I just have to read the instruction manual to figure out how to operate the thing!

I'll try to get some up in the next day or so. It's the same head unit that Liquid Ag put in his and he already has some pics posted earlier in this thread. It's a good looking double DIN unit with a red color scheme that matches the rest of the lighting in the car.

once you read like the first paragraph of the manual, you will hit your head and go DAMN thats really easy lol

Took me a little bit of manual reading just to figure out how to set the clock, but it's done and I'm starting to understand the iPod controls. Is it me, or can you not use the iPod's Shuffle using the headunit controls?

When I installed my aftermarket radio the Factory Subwoofer still worked in my car .all I used was an aftermarket wire harness from crutchfield and it did not say anything about factory sub but it still works.
