What about the HP Racing header? Details can be found here: http://www.nopionline.com/ (See attached picture). You have to look under Mazda > Protege > 2001. For some reason it only shows up under the 2001 model year. It's listed at only $240 USD and is ceramic coated. This header is mentioned in the MP3 parts list, however no one ever seems to talk about it specifially.

Also, after many hours of reading on this forum, there never was any follow up on the custom downpipe Wagnermotorsports was producing. I believe this was specifically for turbos -- it had a 2.5" diameter and came with a hi-flow pre-cat. I assume he could make one with a 2.25" diameter pipe and no pre-cat for n/a applications. Has anyone ever just removed the stock pre-cat and downpipe, and replaced it with a custom built piece? I wonder what kind of gain could be made with that? I imagine it would be pretty cheap to fabricate. Everyone seems to say the pre-cat and downpipe are the most restrictive part of the exhaust. Why not just eliminate that and save some $$$?

The HP header never really materialized. That picture from NOPI is for a Honda header. The only ones that are available are the AWR, OBX (if they ever start shipping to the states), Mazdaspeed (Mucho $$$), and AutoEXE (also Mucho $$$).

the obx header never went to full production anywhere. awdlax has been the only person i have seen who has the obx header designed specifically for our cars and bolts up to the second cat. all other obx header designs for our engines were made for the mx-6/626/probe models. the only other header out there that has not shipped stateside is the ractive one, which p5sundevil and kymp5 are running.

YOU CAN CHECK OUT AXRONLINE.COM IN FLORIDA THEY HAVE THE AWR HEADER AND ALSO THE SHORTY FROM ESSENTIAL SPEED. THE PRICE QUOTED IS CHEAPER THAN ANYWHERE ELSE.

ALSO CHECK OUT THE CAPS LOCK BUTTON WHICH IS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 3 INCHES FROM THE BOTTOM LEFT OF YOUR KEYBOARD.

Hey, for those of you who have installed headers, what is the diameter of the pipe that connects to the secondary cat? Is it 2.0", 2.25", 2.5" or other?
