Head Unit?

i know almost nothing about electronics..... But im good with fiberglass and im going to do a custom install in the back of my 3. i have ordered 2 15" rockford fosgate suvbs and an amp but im thinking about changing my head unit as well. Any suggestions on how to do this without having to do a lot of dash work since everything seems to be connected?

There is a dash kit available that makes light work of this.

So isn't fiberglass resin, matte, bondo, and paint. But the kit also comes with the necessary electronics to keep everything behind the dash working. That is why it is pricey.

I never knew they made kits cause the stereo is all together with the ac. thats why i thought it was pricey.

The 3 is not an all together steroe HVAC even though it kind of looks like it.
Now the 6 on the other hand is and that IS a pricey kit

The reasonably priced stuff, crutchfield will give you for free with purchase of a haed unit. This include dash kit, wiring harness, and antenna adapter.

Why not go with a LOC? Or even better an OEM integration device such as the Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.2 or JL-Audio cleansweep.

Full factory integration, stealth look, great sound. (and you can keep your LCD and steering wheel controls. I believe both of those devices even have an aux input in case you want to add a dvd player or other auxiliary device...

alpine has an integration unit also i dont know why you guys are saying the dash kit is pricey picked my up for like 16 bucks at a local shop the wire harness was about 16 also

Do you have a link to the alpine unit? I have heard about it, but haven't seen any information on it yet...

thats actually pretty weird, i know they used to advertise it all over their website, and the local shop even tried to push the unit on me, but for the life of me i cant find it on their website http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/company/pr/pr.php?prid=96&year=2005<-- This was all i could find
