Need some pads I can use for a track day on the daily driver and I've narrowed it down to these two. From what I've read so far both should work adequately on track with my street tires. I'd like to hear thoughts on noise and dust levels. I know neither will be good here, but I'd like to go with the lesser evil.

Well first off the HP+ is more on the same level as a carbotech xp8 and both of those suck on the street but would be great for the track. The hawk HPS and AX6 is what you want for the street but to be honest the car doesnt need more stopping power at stock/bolt on power levels so its a waste. The HPS and AX6 should be okay on the track but its not recommend :(. Your best bet is to swap pads at the track event or deal with the dust and noise of a track pad. I used to daily on track pads and I loved the loud noise but most people hate it LOL

I ran the Ferrodo DS2500 on my WRX and it worked wonderfully for just about everything I did with the car, I wish that compound was available for the 2.

I'm pretty sure the AX6 would be a step up from the HPS, since the the carbotech bobcat was the "street" compound and the ax6 is a level up. I was hoping that it would work OK on track since are cars are so light and so slow.

When I tracked my Miata I was going to get ax6 pads but 949 said I would need xp8s. Shouldn't take long to swap pads. Its only the fronts after all. Never looked much into the bobcats but i don't think they are as good as the HPS...

I didn't like the HPS or bobcats when I tried them on my subarus. I did like the axis ultimates I put on the miata for street/autocross.

Sounds like maybe I should just go for the HP+ (and use the $50 I save towards an AWR mount) and plan on swapping the stock pads back in. Goodwin sells both IIRC.

I had HP+ before on my ZX3, braking was amazing but on the street it wasn't fun, noisy and dust was a pain in the ass. Switching between HP+ and HPS may be the only good thing to do. There's not a perfect track/DD pad out there, so I'll be switching for track days :)

Left other message about pads. The CarboTechs I'm using are XP8s. Great on track, great on street, squeak on street, don't squeak on track. Not much dust. CarboTech warned about the street squeak. Choices: drive faster or provide warning to oncoming traffic.

HP plus, fun for annoying people on the street and making wheels dirty....
