2900 miles and it came on yesterday. Took it straight to the dealer...
They have had the same problem with CX-7's and other mazdaspeed3 they sold.
why me!

Got a CEL 2 days ago. 900 miles and code P2006. They did the intake manifold drilling thing. I was told the same thing about it happening to both CX-7s and MS3s. I was also told that the switch replacement part is currently being manufactured, so it would need to be special ordered if I needed it.

Memo: You'll need it. The hole-drilling doesn't seem to EVER work, and even if it 'did'...the switch is still defective and it needs to be changed.

That's what I figured.

What exactly does the said switch do exactly?

anyone know how long is the wait on the new part ?

In the mornings, when I start the car, the light is not there...but after it warms up..and after the turbo kicks in, I see it right away. There is a drop in performance due to this, I can feel it/ notice it.

It somehow adjusts the turbulence of the air coming into the manifold so that you get better torque at low revs....

Or at least that's what the tech said.

10,800 miles, no CEL. It has sputtered twice for a few seconds, ran very rich & smoked a bit, then it cleared up right away. Maybe the manifold switch mentioned above is about to croak.

CEL on @ 1295 miles(P2006 intake runner control-Adjusted), CEL on @ 4636 miles(P2006 intake runner control-adjusted), CEL on @ 5608 miles (P2006 intake runner control-replaced IMRC Actuator), CEL on 6300 miles(P2006 intake runner control,O2 sensor code-Ordered IMRC Actuator). Waiting to get the car back. Hopefully will get it back Wed. Then will talk to Mazda about issues and see what they will be able to do for me.

The tech and manager told me that the switch tells the cumputer if the flap is open or closed. That is all it is...an open or closed signal. The flap causes turbulence when the car is cold to help with cold starts. I didnt hear anything about torque though.

Benzo. wow - that sucks. I hope mine doesn't do that.
Its been gone all day today. It was there yesterday. lets wait and see what happens.

Me2

I also had P2006 last month and now 500 miles later .. another CEL , I was going to mod but since i have to sent it back and not sure if i will be getting another one.. Dun know if i should mod it till it is properly fix. CEL SUCKS...
(bang)

I was counting on doing mods to this car but since i will be taking this to the next step I think I will have to wait.

i just installed my hks hi-power exhaust in my '06 3 hatch and the engine light is on.....anyone know how i can fix this?

I thought I was one of the lucky ones w/o a CEL, but got one this weekend at 4513. It was the standard P2006/intake runner stuck closed issue. Dealer said all they have sold (about 5 or 6 he said) have come back with the same problem. I was in & out in about an hour. No problems since.

You probably screwed up an O2 sensor. Did you hook them back up after the install? Does the new pipe even support the O2 sensors? You may need to get a sensor eliminator to fool the ECU that they are there and working.
