Has Anyone Had to Replace the Coolant Elbow (Turbo)

I am wondering how many other people had to replace the coolant return elbow on their MazdaSpeed Protege. I could not find a replacement on aftermarket websites (hoping for a silicone one). I had to go to the dealership to get it.

My first problem was that when I went to the dealership with my vin number they ordered the nonturbo elbow then charged me a restock fee when it was the wrong one. I ended up going 3 different times trying to get this hose.

I talked to the manager and told him I have a MazdaSpeed Protege, not a Mazda Protege, the one with a turbo. Then he had the nerve to ask me if I installed the turbo myself. I said, "No, this is a Protege with authrozied modifacations from MazdaSpeed."
"Well, sir.....that is a different screen."

He pulled up the screen which I have attached to this thread. Hose #24 cost $90 compared to the regular Protege hose at $10. I talked him down to $65 due to his poor staff that kept selling me the wrong hose.

Has anyone else had this same problem or a cheaper solution???

Yeah I had to replace,
Luckily the guy (slomsp03.5) was the one that sold it to me when he was working at a Mazda dealer.

I had a very similar problem from another dealership that argued my car was not stock turbo or that color from the factory. It was a so called "Mazdaspeed" dealer at that.
I was done with dealers after that until I met Bill - slomsp03.5

No, like I said, I had to go back 3 different times until I talked to the manager. Mazda doesn't have a screen for MazdaSpeed Protege's like they do MazdaSpeed 6 or 3. Our cars our "authroized modifactions" which means the parts people have to log into a different screen to get the correct part numbers for the turbo system, suspension, etc....

The attachments are the screens he printed out for me. I thought it would help other MSP owners when they go to the dealership.

OUR MSP PARTS ARE NOT "OEM" PARTS!!!

The dealership can get the parts, but make sure they are logging into the MazdaSpeed website, not the OEM Protege site.

What was the price you guys paid for this hose?

$90 seemed like TOO MUCH. I talked him down to $65 for the hose after I explained how the other parts personal messed up and I had to pay restocking fees on the nonturbo coolant elbow!

One day... I just want to get rod of all that stock coolant and oil lines and do custom ones... so they will look much better and not have the rubber. One day.... haha

I am from Allentown. I am the only yellow one here. I have seen a blue one and a silver one crusin through this area also. I am the only one with the reverse cowl carbon fiber hood I have seen so far also

A couple years ago I went to a meet and ride with a mediator from this website...the one with Kermit the frog as an avatar....we met in philly...he has a Turbo Miata....

My car has been down for about a year now due to a blown LSD. Still trying to save money for a Welded LSD, Lighten MazdaSpeed Flywheel + Silicone Vacuum Lines

Owning a house and having to remodel it is killing me right now. Next month, I'm planning to purchase these parts and install them!!

But Protege_kid (eddie) hes from Easton and he has a yellow MSP. But get the MSP back up and running! once mine is up again (blown motor) ill be meeting up with alot of people i havent seen in awhile from my car being down. hahaha

But once a year for the past 2 years we held a small Meet/race at LVGP great place to go.

actually the Screen you speak of is just scans from the actual MP3/ MSP catalog. There a thread that scanned the whole thing and posted it. I think the whole think is like 10-15 pages. It includes body part numbers as well and part numbers for ordering factory paint. which I hear is out of production anyways

We had some guy post in the IL section talking s*** about he has the only Yellow MSP in the midwest or some rediculous s*** like that. Then when we called him on it, he went all bipolar and got himself banned LOL.

I'm not saying I'm the only Yellow MSP. It was a very popular color, espcially early production numbers. I am saying I'm the only Yellow MSP in Allentown with #0005 production number!!! Hey, what's your production number? Is it under 10? 20??

And I got these printouts from the dealership today, which I scanned to my computer. The part numbers in the link are valid. And yes, there are more pages. I only posted the ones valid to this thread. I was trying to help out others trying to get this coolant hose that may run into trouble like I did. The dealership has a "different" screen for MazdaSpeed Modifactions done to 2003 Protege's.

What do you need? I have the whole turbo system printout. I could get the other pages when I go to the dealership to pick up the elbow.
