has anyone had lasik eye surgery

going this weekend to have my eye surgery... a little nervous...has anyone had this done? just woundering how safe this is.. and how much you had to pay...have been given different prices...in amarillo they want almost 4 thousand, found it to be cheaper in Dallas at lasik vision institute. they quoted me anywhere from 500.00 to 1000.00 per eye. Is this a good place to have this surgery done...I know cheaper does not always mean better, any input would be helpfull, thanks

All I hear on the radio is the commercials about Dr. Boothe's Eye Center and how they have performed the most in the world or something.. If I needed lasik, I would prob go there....

I had it done over 3 years ago...my eyesight back then was 20/15 about a week after the surgery. My eyesight today is 20/20 or 20/18 depending on how awake I am (my eyes).

Make sure they are using the latest LASIK laser, check your doctor's references to find out how long he has been peforming the surgery, and what his success rate is.

The LASIK laser does most of the work, but they still have to map out your eye contour to match that up with the laser as far as I know. The doctor also has to know exactly which areas need to be treated, etc.

Do a little research...

I had LASEK done....no, it's not spelled wrong.. LASEK. I was also 20/15 for a bit after, but now (a year later) 20/20. I'd do it again. LASIK scares me....fear the microkeratome!

bump.. got any updates yellowspeed or matthew? i'm getting LASIK done on Friday.. I can't wait!! My wife is going to have it done next week.. (we staggered our appointments on purpose)

my dad did it a few months ago.....he got the "lifetime warranty" so if his eyes get worse than 20/20, he can go back and get them done again for free.....

also....they told him to keep his eyes extra moist for the first few weeks.....he was complaining about being blurry the first few days when he woke up in the morning, just add some saline solution and you'll be good to go.

LASIK has become pretty commonplace to the point where they freaking print discount coupons for procedures in the papers here in Vegas, so it's not an arcane art of any sort. Just make sure to do the research and see how long the doctor has been doing procedures for, make sure you feel comfortable with them and their staff/office. And by no means should you get it done if their office is a back alley and the doctor is holding a butter knife and his "staff" is a half-clothed wino named "Sparkles"

yes, i am getting the lifetime deal too.. also, they gave me a prescription already for eyedrops which I am having filled, so I will have it with me on Friday to start using immediately..
