Has anyone got the B-Spec kit?

Because of the difference that we have 2 liquids(oil/water) vs air/oil, this is why the whole world use a different term for each one.(heat exchanger, oil cooler)

Technically, they're both heat exchangers. But in the semantics of the auto industry it looks like there is a distinction made.

So, just to be sure I got this straight... oil cooler = air cooling only; heat exchanger = water cooled?

Speaking of all this B-Spec kit stuff, and I know it's been said before but I don't have time to search before I go back out, does anyone know of where to buy individual B-Spec parts? I want to get the AC delete kit

I think you guys can get the A/C from the Mazda dealer. Look up a idler pulley for a non A/C Mazda 2 from a local dealership. It should be a bracket/pulley set.

Thanks Derrick and AN7! I'm probably gonna hit up my dealer soon for that.

A little bit of power and a whole lot of weight,

Thanks
Derrick

For the weight i agree, but i am not sure about the power. The pulley of the compressor when it's not turned on, spins as freely as an idle pulley.

Has anyone measured the weights saved from removing the AC? This would be the first car I ever owned that had A/C on it.

Does one merely just cap the A/C lines after removal?

I'm under the assumption that you take out the entire system.. especially if it's not hooked up anymore.

When I buy the kit/pulley, I'll have no problem weighing the system.

looking forward to the weight, when i removed the entire system from my crx it netted just under 40 pounds, but i went pretty extreme, even removed the harnesses/relays. It made a pretty huge impact on a 2100 pound car. 20 years of A/C technology would most likely have lightened the load by now though.

I was also interested in the A/C Delete Idler Pulley. But, I'm not sure if I want to strip out my perfectly functioning A/C system out of my new Mazda2, even though I almost never use the A/C. That's why we have power window's! FTW!

20 years of A/C technology would most likely have lightened the load by now though.

You would be surprised...

I am curious about the weight of the compressor as well, also if there is a mounting bracket which can be taken off. I am not planning on taking mine off since it is a DD, but I would like to know. On the Miata the Compressor was huge and was quite heavy. There was also a large cast iron bracket which is bolted to the engine to mount it. The compressor in the 2 is actually quite small though so I doubt it really weighs that much.

I have the lines and compressor sitting in my garage. I will get it on a scale.
