Has anyone experienced this on their MP3

Whenever I hit close to 4.5Krpm in 4th going almost 80mph the steering feels like it vibrates. I thought it was my tires at first, cuz I just got them put in(balanced,alligned)...but while going 80mph I took my car out of gear and there was no vibration. Do I need tuning?(scratch)...although my car idles pretty low and doesn't really stall unless I release the clutch in low rpm. What do you all think??

Sounds like when u go up to 4 1/2K u get normal engine/trans vibration cuz ur at a high rpm (for our cars thats high anyways, damn honda boys lol j/k) My car does it how bad of a vibration how long does it last tryto explain it better and maybe i can help.
Peace,
Zane

I didn't experience unusual vibration doing nearly the same mph/rpm a few days ago on the highway. Pretty addictive and also fun, but I always worry about wasting gas and wearing out the car in the long run.

Thanks for the responses guys I appreciate it....I was begining to think my car is developing engine problems just in its first year of driving. I am not much of a high rev driver myself. Unless ofcourse there is a call for a little (spank). I just got my tires changed so I decided to see if it was balanced and aligned properly. Well so far it comes and goes....strange

It happened on my corolla going about that speed.....my thoughts were that it was the itty bitty engine giving it all she had......

not the itty bitty engine giving all it has... because its only for a period between about 70 or 75 - about 80 mph... then it goes away.. i always thought it was alignment being off... then i got an alignment done.. and it did kinda go away for a bit.. then it started fading in and out periodically... its kinda strange.. it seems ok lately.. but im sure it'll come back eventually

Oh i didn't know it stopped....mine would just rev really high and the steering wheel would shake from about 80 mph up

If it goes away when you're not under power, and your wheels/tires are balanced, look at axles and motor mounts.

motor mounts?? already?? the cars are barely a little over a year old from production dates.... i understand axles... those can easily be damaged.... if you hit a big ass curb... or a huge rock comes up underneath or something super weird like that... but motor mounts? mounts arent something that you can damage like say a tire.... or a bumper... its not like if you drove over a curb your mounts would get messed up.. or if you accidentally dinged a pole or something... i thought motor mounts were more of a "wear out after a while" product?? could be wrong though... then again... there was that problem w/ the bushings in the back suspension... who knows, i suppose its a possibility

thx for the suggestions keith

oh yah... and btw.. keith... do you guys have any more info on the ecu open/closed loop "problem"?? (cant really be classified as a problem... as its supposed to do that... guess its more of an "inconvenience") I'm interested to know what.. if anything, you guys have discovered so far after gathering data from all the sensors... i've been waiting for updates :)

Not knowing the history of the car, it's possible to break motor mounts quickly with enough abuse. Hey, it's worth checking.

We've got a solution to prevent the ECU from pulling large amounts of fuel under boost, but we haven't tried to modify the ECU for different naturally aspirated behaviour.
