has any body taken cats of the turbo mazda speed yet?

yes a Check Engine light in pretty much any Mazda that has to do with the emmisions will throw the motor into limp mode. You will burn extreemly rich and loose all of your gas mileage as well as loose a good amount of HP.

dude are you serious! i cant understand why removeing a cat on a turbocar will hurt horsepower are the ecu's that bad on these things?

I think CH misunderstood. When you remove your 02 your car will run like ass. However remove the cat and you will get some power;)

No i understood.....on my 00 protege if there is a emissions CEL thrown it automatically puts the car into limp mode which makes it run extremely rich loosing power. I would imagine the MSP would be the same way.

The ECU isn't "bad." It just has a huge grip on control over everything the motor does, and doesn't do as the case might be.

My 1st CAT is gone, and I get the same CEL I always have gotten...P0421 Warm Up Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1) My performance is better!;) I suspect that my O2 sensor(s) need to be changed.

Alot of turbo guys run with no cats on our cars and have experienced no problems. I personally run catless and luv it:cool:

i run without the second cat and i love it, i am going to get a header here pretty soon and that should eliminate the 1st cat...i am hoping that this doesn't throw anything off
