Hard starts?

Fellow MSPs,

I have noticed on a few occations now, that my car won't turn over on 1st turn (after she's been sitting awhile). Most of the time she'll start right up, but there have been a few times where it just won't turn over until the 2nd....3rd... times

Could this be due to the car running rich and the kegging of the spark plugs? Some kinda setting in the ECU?

Like I said, it doesn't happen a lot, but it shouldn't w/ a car that has 570 miles on it

Same deal with me. It seems that sometimes it takes a little long to turn over and if you stop cranking the key before it starts, it takes a couple of tough cranks to get her going. I haven't had any actual trouble with the car though...must just be a foible of the car.

Kinda of a issue with all Proteges, cause my 5 does it sometimes to.
Like this morning about 3-4 cranks.

Yeah, REMillers,

you and I live in the same area.. it took me 3 hard cranks for her to go..

but when it's warmer outside, no problems..

I'm glad that I"m not the only one experiencing it.

This morning mine took a few turns to start. When ever it doesn't start right away its really crunchy through the first few shifts also, but everything smoothes out by the time I leave my neighborhood.

I don't know if the same applies to the MSP, but I know with my Cougar it doesn't always start if I hop in and attempt to crank it right off the bat. I've found that if I turn the key to the on position, let the electric fuel pump fire up (I can hear it whirr for a split second from the rear of the car), and THEN crank it... Starts up every time, no questions asked. It's done that since I bought the car, and doesn't seem to be a problem.

Do you guys have cold air intakes mounted? We've seen this on cold mornings with cars with intakes (mine included), not so much on regular mornings.

its because of the oil presure switch
ecu must see pressure before it will alow fuel/ignition

How about boost sound past 4K?

Guys,

what does your turbo sound like past 4K.

I finally got on it last night (it was NICE), and after 4k there was a loud whistle ( like the bov was leaking). It always happens past 4K.

I think I'm imagining things, it could be just the turbo really spooling, but I just wanted to check to make sure.

I did a search for BOV leaks OR Vaccum leaks.. no avail :(
