Ok. I am still pretty new to the whole msp "scene" so pardon my noobness. I am looking to go with a larger turbo and a fmic among some other mods, being that i want to run a higher boost level. So i was looking for some info, maybe even other peoples experiance with the gt28rs, and the gt3071r upgrades. Just some general knowledge. Thanks in advance.

assuming you get a FMIC, and an exhaust at minimum, heres a short suggestion guide.

if youre unforged:
- GT25 @ 9psi, or with at least a piggyback air/fuel controller @11psi
- GT28RS @ 5 psi, or with a piggyback @7psi
- GT3071R @0 psi no matter what. dont even consider it.

if youre forged:
- GT25 @12-13 psi
- GT28RS @ 9psi or with a piggyback @___psi depending on mods
- GT3071R @ ____ psi depending on mods like standalone vs. piggyback EMS, fueling/cooling upgrades, and transmission work to name a few.

not to be a dick, but no ones going to spoon feed you what you need to run a GT3071R. it takes a lot of reading from other peoples build threads.

does the t35 even produce 12 psi?
ok so gt30 out of the question. Now im not looking to be "spoon fed" but for the guys that have gone with the gt28 upgrade, where is a good starting point as far as mods go. I dnt mean like specific mods, but more or less a category. for instance air in/ air out, electronics? like i said. parden my noobness, im just tryin to learn

its all good, but theres a ton of info to be had just by browsing through the forums for a little... and theres plenty of people who are willing to rip you a new one around here if you dont. try not to pay too much attention to it.

start by reading this http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123677826
and http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31763. not a lot of info for the 28RS specifically but it tells you whats out there.

anyways, the stock rods arent very good, the GT25 will generally last longer than an unforged block. i would only upgrade if you want to do every single bolt on, or if you blow the stock turbo. it makes sure you stay in control... a 2 psi spike on a 28RS WILL blow your engine if youre not careful, a GT25 makes that less of a threat.
its tough to reccommend upgrade categories, just go with a FMIC, exhaust, and EMS. so its all about flow... if you have good flow in/out of the engine, you can run an extra psi or two. FMIC is a must, and the stock tune isnt good... save your pennies for a piggyback.

Start with bolt-ons, intake, fmic, exhaust.
Unless your turbo is blown, there is no reason to upgrade the turbo on a stock internal MSP. You're just asking to have holes in the block. If you have money to fix that, by all means go big.
