GT28rs Done!!! Wow what power

To be honest I have no clue what size exhaust housing I got. I'm assuming you mean on the turbo. Ken at PG ordered everthing up for me, it bolted right on so I have to assume stock size. I totally agree about the boost. I expected it to be 8 psi max. I sure the WGA just needs some adjustment. I actually never had plans on upgrading the turbo.
The original concept in my head was...
626 mani, black hardpipes, with BOV and relocated MAF, CustomSMIC, Upgrade Downpipe and keep the stock exhaust, turn boost up to 8 PSI and DONE. Very mild!!
Then the turbo blew and things changed quickly!! Now I have to rethink everything. I'm still not sure if I want to go FMIC though, I need to read more on them

I just got back from PG after they installed the GT28RS, AWR motor mounts and a Forge WGA.
All I can say WOW!!!!
I can't believe how much this car pulls.
I did find myself in the 10-10.5 PSI range, so that's going to have to be brought down some so I stay away from the zoom-zoom-boom.
Here's a pic of it going in. I'll take better shots tomorrow when I get light.

As of right now the car is all stock besides the stuff we added today, even down to the plastic piping!!

Also Thanks to Cataphract_40 for the ride out there and hanging out while Ken and them did there thing!!

Nice!

I think if I can some how get the boost down to say 7 or 8 I should be cool.
I've been told that once I get the split second in and tuned right I should be ok with 10 psi.

You should be okay with appropriate supporting mods. When the dynos for the SS were released they had a 8psi pull, a 9psi pull and a 10 psi pull (all on the stock turbo), the 10 psi pull had, an intake, fmic, exhaust, stage colder plugs.

are you getting any fuel cuts when you hit 10psi? like around 6k rpm?

I don't dare take it to 6000 RPM running this boost. That would be careless!!!
As soon as I get up near 10 I realease throttle

thats ok.....just dont push it....remember that 8 psi on stock turbo isnt the same as 8 psi on gt28.....get supporting mods ASAP....meanwhile keep the boost as low as possible

The actuator was adjusted to it's fullest from what I was told. I guess a split second will help with controlling some of that fuel?

fuel management, exhaust, intercooler. these three things are simply a must have for this turbo :)

the actuator is the forge billet replacement. we could swap the springs, that is about all we can do to make the adjustments needed right now.

When Can I come down to switch the springs? I can be there this weekend if you can or monday morning if you can. I just want to get this down asap for piece of mind. The right foot is used to being heavy. It takes alot to tame it!! If we can get it down even 1 psi (but 2 would be ideal) I'll be content till I get the rest of the mods.
I don't want to spend the money on the Split second yet. My B-day is just a month away, and I have a feeling the other half my spring for some parts, since it's now on my list, along with a vibrant, FMIC, and gauges!!

I tell people this, and they tell me I am wrong.

WTF!!!!!

For big boost like over 10 psi a FMIC is a must, If planning on keeping the boost under 10 a SMIC is better suited. I really have never planned on boosting over 10 psi even now with the larger turbo. Keeping the pedal at 3/4 throttle and hovering the 8-8.5 psi range the car is plenty fast!! I really can't believe how it feels!! With that said once I get the fuel managed, exhaust and intake taken care of 10 Psi will be safe all day, so at that point the plot thckens. 10 PSI seems to be the magic line. so what side of the line will I be standing??

Dude, I have had both set-ups and what you are saying is wrong.

The upgraded SMIC is not effecient, even lower than 10 psi. I have first hand experience.

Please don't go spreading that B.S.

Unless you have tried both set-ups, you have no room to make statements like that. I have almost every bolt-on part for this car, and have been modding it for 2 years.

they only have a 5 psi for a lower spring. so u will be around 5 psi minimum

Ive had it too and it worked fine for me. Im not saying its a 100%, it still will heatsoak but for a daily drived the smic with supporting mods worked just fine for me.

It's a waste of money IMO.

For a little more you could go FMIC, and not get heatsoaked.

I'm just tired of people saying, oh, the SMIC is fine if you stay under 10psi, well it's not, it heatsoaks, and that is not fine.

It's fine if you don't mind wasting your money.

I agree a FMIC is more efficient, but there was a big throttle response difference for me. Thats why i liked the SMIC. Mine only heatsoaked if i really raced it around. Just piddling aroung i didnt get any.

I dont think its total bs though to recomend one. But were allowed to have our own opinions. it didnt work out for you, but i found it favorable for daily driving low boost.

Upgraded smic does work for most situations. I don't know anyone who used their MSP harder than BlackZoomZoom. He had an outstanding 1/4 mile time and made great power with his engine before it blew. It didn't blow because he wasn't running an fmic.
