GT28R: what does it take to make it fit?

I'm using the MSP exhuast manifold and s-pipe. If I wanted to use a GT28R instead of the GT25, what would it take to make it fit? I know you have to modify it, but I can't remember where I saw it.

Thanx

A GT28r you will need a new mani and DP. You are thinking about the gt28rs, You need to clock the compressor housing and you need to angle the WG actuator. There have been a few ways people have done this.

why would i need a new DP and mani? the bolts are all the same.

There have been more than a handful of Threads stating that the only direct fit replacement for the 25 is the 28rs.

well, i just put the s-pipe next to it and it mates up.

Do the EX flanges? If they do then either that turbo was modified or i will be incerting foot into mouth.

no, this is a brand new turbo sitting on my desk. I was sent the wrong one, but I didn't want the GT2864R. I ordered the GT2560.

Yeah, I know I got a good deal, but i ordered the GT25 so i wouldn't have to modify anything....just drop it in.

Making the 28 fit is really easy. All you do is clock the compressor (i dont remember exactly how mcuh but that does not matter.) And I saw one guy just cut out a section of the actuator rod. Then reatched it at an angle.

I know there are pictures floating around of what needs to be done. I just did a quick search and could not find them but i know ive seen them.

what's "clock" mean?

Oh that easy. That is just losseing the bolts around the compressor housing. And then turning the housing untill the outlet is facing the direction you want. Takes like 5 minutes to do.

Subbin'

I plan on doing this eventually (after the built motor, of course). Probably the 28rs though, but I'm sure it would be about the same. I've heard something about using the stock WGA setup and a small linkage between the actuator rod and arm. Not too clear on the specifics though.

Huh? I think this is the wrong thread...
agreed. i'm needing to know how to modify the GT28R to fit the stock location

exactly, it is a drop in replacement aside from the wastegate. there is a link in that other thread that goes into more detail.

The hot sides are the same. You just need to clock the cold side a tad and remount either the stock t25 wg or rework the new gt28 actuator.
