br289165 - You started this GB; it's pretty disappointing that you're ditching it the minute you find out you don't need anyone else to get your header made.

Sadly it looks like this thing is drying up before it even begins. We never even saw a list of 10 interested. As such, it seems unlikely 10 will pay deposits. If I'm mistaken, start a list of those willing to pay the deposit. But don't string AWR or your fellow protege owners along. Either the interest is there, or it isn't.
 
So you started this thread to gain interest as you were looking to get one made for yourself. You went so far as to contact Antoine to receive temp. AMM status for a single GB in which you were not to collect any money. Now that you know yours is being made regardless of what anyone else does, you want to walk away from this and nominate someone else to take over. Did you happen to discuss this with Antoine? Will the newly appointed person you are seeking have to apply for the temp AMM status for the duration of this buy?

You mention that Tony at AWR says he needs at least 10 people interested to start the process and that they should contact him directly.....so how is anyone on the forum supposed to know where the GB is in terms of interested parties? Do we have to call Tony and ask him? Also, is there any kind of timeframe Tony has placed on this or is it open indefinitely until 10 interested people have sent the deposit? Finally, from my time here on the forums, a GB is generally done to offer a product to members at a reduced price....a few people inquired about such in your thread and you never answered....so is there a monetary incentive involved?

Again, just some observations I have made.
 
Nate123, If you read this thread as it was originally intended,you will see it was a group interest thread and the words "group buy" were never included anywhere. Under your assumption and in line with your function on the forum you urged me two times to get GB approval,which would have preceded any agreement by me with AWR to produce the headers as needed,so I did what you required.I did this so that maybe Tony and those interested would be able to come to an agreement for production. The approval came days after you required the authorization. In the mean time I relayed precisely the information given to me by Tony (AWR). No one aside from Make Me Go Fast, was willing to accept and understand the information I posted,instead replying with impatient questions and declarations of "I'm out" etc.,which really deserved no response. After reading this nonsense, I asked myself,why should I even bother arranging anything for them, with the exception of helping Tony with some additional sales as he is a nice guy. As I have stated before,I would not benefit at all in any way except for the production of a header for myself. This must be difficult to understand for some in such an untrustworthy world. What I don't understand is why it is so hard for some of you to do what is suggested and call the manufacturer and deal directly with him, as I did,is that not good enough for you? Have any of you who say you're interested even tried to call AWR, as of yesterday no one has,so what's your actual concern,whether I organize a "proper" group buy that satisfies your expectations or that you get a quality header by doing things a little differently? I've made the calls and relayed the information to you and that doesn't seem to be good enough. Logically,why should I spend a decent amount of my time organizing,collecting money, updating lists,dealing with all there is to deal with in a GB,when not only am I not profiting,but I would also have to deal with all the immaturity and impatience? Think about it. For those of you who are truly interested in buying a header,please call AWR if he gets enough deposits no matter if collected by me or him,I think he is willing to make the headers.

Yes I urged you to get GB approval from Antoine because that's how it works. I suggested you get the ball rolling because I know approval can sometimes take up to a few weeks, and I didn't want you to have to wait.

You had an idea for a group buy, wanted to gauge interest from others. Great. But it was no longer GI once you announced that deposits were required and posted Tony's contact information. At that point, things had to halt until approval was received. Maybe it was premature (the list wasn't fully together) but that's the normal progression.

Because we need someone at Mazdas247 (in this case - you!) to make sure there are 10 interested parties! It's a huge inconvenience for a manufacturer that is no longer even making this part to have calls trickle in one at a time with people that might be interested, to then have to explain to each one what the deal is and maybe end up with some number of deposits. He might get 10 but he might only get 3 or 4? What is he supposed to do then? It reflects really poorly on us as a forum to be this disorganized. We need to organize on our end so that we can send 10 buyers to him when the time is right.

You don't have to collect any money. Just maintain the list, and when enough people sign up, let Tony know that you have ten, make sure it's still a go - and THEN post the contact info for sending in deposits.

But you're right - your header is being made already, so why bother? (hand)
 
interested but before i actually go in for it when the first cat is pulled out is it gona set off a code thinking the o2 sensor is bad resulting in it runing rich/ hurting gas milage its an every day driver so gas milage is a plus for me before 10 hp
 
awesome thanks anybody know about how much louder the exhaust would be? i dont want it sounding like a bumble bee on crack
 
sub, thats my question...iv heard na pros with headers and full exhaust, sounds civic-ish, and i dont like that, any way it'll retain the tone of the stock headers?
 
You've obviously never heard my exhaust ;)
Mind you I have huge cams to shape the sound...
