Ground Control questions

Ok, I know there is another thread on this topic but they didn't answer all of my questions, First all I want to do is lower the car so that I don't have a gap inbetween my stock wheels/tires, and also to those that have GC how low Would I have to go to achieve this? below 2"? Also if these are driven a while without changing the height will they sieze up? so you can't raise it anymore, just a thought. Also does anybody have the autoexe frontlip? how much do you think it would leave for ground clearance with the setup I want with stock wheels?
To whoever helps me thanks alot, I really appreciate it because I am stuck on to what to get for a suspension upgrade

What's up man. I'm planning on getting the Ground Control coilovers for the same reason. (wheel-fender gap) I don't know exactly how low you have to lower them, but all you have to do is wrench them down to your desired height. Also, ground control is a reputable company and I haven't heard of any that have seized up. My best friend/race enemy has had them on his civic for a while and no problems at all so far.
I don't have the frontlip, so I can't tell you exact numbers. However, I don't think (just by looking at the many pictures) that it will affect you future setup.
As for the Mazdaspeed shocks....I have no idea.

alright, to answer your questions on the use of the struts. You can not use the mazdaspeed adjustable struts. the GC's are coil over's which are simialar to the strut/spring we have stock, but in order to get the adjustability of the GC's you have to have the shock body which has the threads and spanner nuts that acutally change the ride height.

Why won't the GC's work with the Mazdaspeed struts? If the GC's work with the stock struts, and the Mazdaspeed struts work with the stock springs, then the GC's have to work with the Mazdaspeed. That is a mathematical rule (forgot the name hehe) If A=B, and B=C, then A=C.

they won't work, and correct me if i'm wrong here, because the gound control coilovers replace the springs and the strut assembly. this is how you get the adjustment through the ride plates, which sit on the bottom of the spring seat. hence the need for a threaded strut body with spanner nuts to hold and allow for adjustment to the ride plate. so if that's the case you couldn't use the stock strut or any other for that matter for the main reason that you can't very well double up on struts on a macpherson type front suspension. if you check out the specs you'll see what i'm talking about. if you replace just the springs then, yes you could use whatever strut you wanted to.

No, ground controls do not replace the strut, only the spring. They are simply springs on a threaded piece of metal. Correct me if I am wrong hehe.

alright, what you describe is just a spring with all thread on the sides and plates for spring seats. I was under the impresion since the GC's are listed as coil overs that they were what i described in my previous posts. since they are just springs with the ride plates then yes, you can use whatever strut you want.

I too want to drop my ride, but not insanely low (just enough to close the wheel-fender gap). I'm thinking my two options are Racing Beat springs with a about a .875 inch drop, or the Ground Controls. What do you guys think?

Like I said, I'm just going for enough to close that gap, and don't want to change shocks etc. Thanks!

GC's are Slip-Coilovers not True coilovers... They are just Springs w/a Threaded Sleeve...

I am with Viza and NC the GC's are just springs with a threaded tube. If tou want true coilovers then you have to go with the JIC Magic stuff.

You're kidding right . If you want to keep the handling characteristics of the MP3. Then I highly suggest that you avoid any airbags or piston setup, as they will destroy any bit of handling you might be looking to keep. Of course you can buy a airbag setup, just don't plan on autocrossing.

Airt bags are for looks and thats about it. Apexi is right if you want handling dont get airbags that will destroy your handling.
