Ground Contols

I know that this has been discussed many times..But I wanna drop my car with GC'S. I like the eibach kit but I want a little more of a drop. I know that getting new struts would be a good idea, I was wondering, Does anyone have the GC'S without an aftermarket set of struts or do you have to buy them? Do you have any problems running 17's? If you do need new struts, How much?? Any info will be very appreciated.:)

I have ground control coilovers with stock struts on my 2002 es protege. I have the car dropped about 2.5 inches and I have no problem with my struts I have 17" monsoones and 215 40s for tires It looks awsome it fills the whole wheel well and fits alomost perfect. The only thing I found was if I dropped the car all the way with the coilovers the back and front tires would rub over big bumps. I like the ride its not to harsh alittle rough but not to bad. Also the coilovers I have found to be alittle clunky because if you tweek the car at all the spring will pull away from the car and then clunk when it returns , but I am completly satisfied with the handling and the easy height adjustment. I paid 373.00 from mitch at protege5online.com and he is a really nice guy. I just sent him a money order and he sent them to me right away.

I wont dish out 500-600 bucks on brand new set of shocks when my stock ones are perfect. If I get a lot of feedback about needing new struts with ground controls then ill just get springs..Im not knocking springs, I want that bigger drop:confused:

you should buy that tein coilover setup for sale in the for sale forum. that way you kill two birds with one stone. that is what i would have done if i had cash. i still may get the JIC magic setup if i ever get any money.
