GROM Audio Aux Port

Well, I got the GROM Audio. today. It took about a week from the time I ordered it, coming from California. Since I installed the PAC AAI-MAZ Aux Port in my car. the GROM Audio unit was going in my wife's wagon.

The GROM Audio unit is a little smaller than the PAC unit, and it has tabs on either side to facilitate mounting it with screws. The body is plastic and doesn't feel very substantial, but it didn't matter much to me since it will stay hidden behind the stereo.

Besides being about $25 cheaper than the PAC AAI-MAZ, the GROM Audio Aux Port comes with an RCA to 3.5 mm adapter. The cord is plenty long enough to reach around to be usable, too.

I would buy either unit again, but I do like the lower prices offered by GROM Audio.

has anyone had any experience with the GROM aux adapters in the speed6's with the bose HU? I'm willing to pay 60 bucks for an adapter (especially since the auxmod won't be available until who knows when...)

Aside from the form factor, I couldn't really tell any difference between the PAC AAI-MAZ I put in my MS6 and the GROM Audio unit I put in my wife's 2007 6 wagon. They both plug into the CD changer port on the Bose head unit. They both functioned exactly the same after installation. The only difference I could find was that my wallet was $30 lighter when I got the PAC AAI-MAZ.

Only time will tell if one is sturdier than the other. I know I'll use the PAC in my MS6 a lot more than my wife will use the GROM Audio unit, since I listen to music more often than she does. If for some reason I needed to replace the PAC unit, I wouldn't hesitate buying another GROM unit.

I hope that helps.

So, is this unit an AUX cable that plugs into headphone jack in an ipod/mp3 device?
I believe most of the Aux ports on the market have RCA inputs. However, you can use an adapter to connect the RCA inputs to a 3.5 mm headphone/output jack. The GROM Audio unit comes with the RCA to 3.5 mm adapter. All of the parts pictured here are what you get with the unit. They do sell some iPod specific adapters, too, though I have no knowledge of their capabilities.

So i can plug this unit into the back of my stock MS 6 unit, and plug the other end into my GPS that can play MP3's. and still have the cd player working?

Anybody have any experience using this with a 2005 Mazda 6i? I just got a Palm Pre, and would really like to use it in my 6.

Edit: My 6 has the stock HU.
