Powerbulbs.com is selling the Osram Silverstar H7s for roughly $35USD, but currently they're running a buy one get one free deal, so you get two full sets for the price of one. Now you can have plenty of replacement bulbs for when your P5 decides it's had enough of whatever bulb is currently in the socket. I just did this, and I'm glad I'm finally set for a while.

Either way, $35 too much for bulbs that are gonna pop in 3 months. Save your coin and just go HID. Xenon Depot is offering DDM kits with lifetime warranty for $110 right now

Apexcone DDM Slimkits FTW
worth the money. or get Luminics bulbs for 40 that lasted me for almost a year already but now im running DDM 6000K HIDs

I can tell you now.
NEVER TOUCH HID BULB EVER EVER!!
Remove stock bulbs

Place new HID bulbs in housing.

Plug new ballast into stock wiring harness that plugged into stock bulb and plug in 2 connectors into HID bulb

Tuck ballast somewhere(i put it behind the bumper)

Turn on headlights and enjoy ubber light

Oh! You found the retrofit how-to!

If you want to install projectors, like you see in Lexus and BMW's with a super sharp cutoff line, yeah, that is the how-to

But the pro5 takes HID plug and play kits pretty good.

If you want to retrofit, you're looking to spend at least $500-$600

Xenon Expert is selling H7 lowbeam HID kits for $110

yea thats the hard way, the normal way is the way pro5x2 did it
i did it the same way

and plus one to never touching the bulb, it'll bust really quick

Actually, the full retrofit is MUCH better, but, just may not be in the budget. If you have teh $$$, retrofit provides the best light output, best light distribution, and best cutoff.

Plug and play kits have glare, yes, they do, but if you aim the headlights down enough, it isn't bad.

And, once you've gone HID, you won't go back to stock!!

Here is the stock halogen bulb the car comes with

Here is a Silver Star Ultra-much whiter compared to stock!!

And now side by side-you guess which is which

And here are my Apexcone 4300K HID kit

And a comparison shot of all the above

Alright, here is a cutoff with Acura TSX projectors with HID bulbs

Compare the HID kit cutoff, where light actually stops, compared to the line the projectors provide. That means less light glaring at oncoming traffic.

And the attach'd pic is something I just found googling, it's a pretty good color chart of the HID color temps

And the bottom color is 2300 not 4000 just FTI

That is a pretty good deal.....however my Osram's burnt out after 6months. So I am more than likely going the hid route.

ahh i see pro5x2 i see what your talking about now with glar for the other drivers.. i hate that when im driving and you cant see because of it.. hm something to think about thanks for the helpful info!!

No prob boss. There are a few guys on here that can help you further if you do decide to go with a projector retrofit. Lemme dig up another link for ya.

My car just must be weird, in a good way. I have had 2 sets of lo beam silverstars since I got the car in jan 04. One of the first set burnt out after 2 1/2 yrs & the other is a spare now to the 2nd set which is still in the car now. Not getting what the big problem is with all these others here going thru them so quick. Don't wanna know really. Crazy.

You're not the only one, there is at least one other member who hasn't had any problems with his either.

I know I popped Silverstars, then figured Ultra's were better. 3 months later, pop.

Same thing with wife's car. So, HID's for both of us

As to the other links, it appears photobucket is down, cause all the pics here are gone.
