Got smashed tonight...

Wow... Blessing you're good. Give it a couple of days.
That's how long it took to realize my right shoulder wasn't right after a head on.
Back in 03. Ended up having to have my rotator cuff reattached. Not a fun surgery...

ehh....rotator cuff = bad times...i think i tore mine.....

my car has been in 2 acidents with me in one of em.....but it was a sideswipe....someone thought they could push me out of the lane and then took off....whole new driver side......

i hate to see all the wrecks but my god do i love how our cars hold up and save us

Glad you're ok!! It's comforting to read that Mazda made a very safe car, and it's a nice plus that there isn't apparent damage to the cars mechanicals, save for a bit of bent metal and plastic.

Hope you don't feel a bit stiff or sore in the days after the crash!

Best of luck.

Yes, lucky is the word...

I've got a fusion in my neck, a fusion in my lower back and an artificial disc in between. I'm lucky it did not knock a screw loose back there! :)

I am pretty friggin sore today though. Nothing major...

The interior is totally fine. You cannot tell it was hit. But the outside is BAD.

Glad to hear you are ok! Pretty much the same thing happened to my last Friday. I had to stop quickly on the freeway. The guy behind me that was doing at least 50 wasn't able to stop. The rear bumper was destroyed but the rest of the car was in pretty decent shape. Unfortunately there was some bending of the frame. The repairs are coming in at between 6K and 7K (!)(guys insurance is paying thankfully).

No body in the car was hurt, this is a very safe car. The rear passenger seat was bent towards the back of the car because we were hit so hard.

The car just turned one and I had just sent in the last payment two days before the accident =(

Damage estimate just got bumped to $11,500. It will be in the shop for another month...

LOL, that beats my final amount of $8700. STILL in the shop...sigh.

I've been driving a Mazda 6 as a rental car. Needless to say a four cylinder, non-turbo engine in a heavier car leaves something to be desired. At least the dude's insurance is paying for it.

i didnt read the whole post, but is your headrest messed up? i got hit at 35 mph and my headrest was messed up. just had the state farm guy here today and they r going to replace the seat back @ a cost of $1700.

Unfortunately, the weather was bad so I did not get any shots before it went into the shop. The entire back hatch was pushed in by about a foot. No apparent frame damage. The headrests and interior looked pretty good.

The shop just called and said about 1/3 of the price reflects the interior panels that were smashed. These are apparently really expensive.

you wouldn't know any difference by looking at the headrest (front seats), but you will notice some play in them when they are all the way down. there isn't supposed to be any front to back motion in them. just something that you can check out. if yours is the case, they will have to replace the whole seat back.

Thanks - I will check. The good news is zero suspension and frame damage.

The other cool thing is that the shop is going to put it back together without any badges on the back.... :)

Mine are doing this, it's about a 1/2 inch of play front and back. The repair shop said this is normal, I'm going to take it to the dealer to confirm. When you say no play, do you really mean ZERO play? Like if you press forward or back on the headrest the whole seat will move?

yeah the head rests should have zero play in them.....none....if you were to get hit from the back again chances are likely that it would just break
